I sent a cybersword runner in to negotiate a deal with a connector, and since the connector wanted somebody captured, I got the bonus. But my CK is a Face. Bug or Feature?

Ok, how did your Character change from a CyberSword into a Face? I think she meant that she used a runner instead of her character when she talked to a connector so she would get the 10% bonus. Sounds like a bug though for a face to be a sword. I wish I had bugs like that when I played

Your team is all moving together, so when you think you are sending a cybersword in, all you have done is essentially made the CyberSword the (temporary) Team Leader. You all still go into the club together. So when he negotiates, you can get that 10%, but he is a runner. Your Knight is still the main PC. The engine can make the distinction because you have changed the Lead slot, and as long as all the checks work out, then you qualify for the bonus, regardless of whether your normal PC can do it.
it might be a bug, but it does make sense, and the engine might support it. I thought there was a comment in a thread (no long buried I am sure) about using runners as the lead slot, especially in higher Heat areas, to help reduce some of the heat. I know I have done it...and it "seemingly" worked. what I mean is that I have a grudge against the streets, so whenever I travel in the streets, I tend to do it with red shirt runners or RSRs... ( pronounced R-ace-r, much like if a pirate were saying the word eraser) Rsrs in the lead slot have led to less encounters or less bad encounters. Maybe I have been lucky and there is no discerning difference by changing out the lead slot, but I swear it has helped most when my CK is low on health and I need to safely get to a safehouse on foot.

Switching a Runner into a lead spot has a lot of effects. They start Negotiating for you. If the Dome falls on someone, it falls on them (and they use their Athletics to Dodge, not yours). If an Encounter involves a Stealth check or a Charisma role, the Runner makes it.
Evidently, they also use their Profession bonuses which is a bug and an exploit.

@los - Heat and Reputation are applied to your team, so switching to a Runner does not help... unless your Runner has higher Stealth or Negotiation. Somebody's got to take hits from the Dome!

fallen...what is this obsession with dropping &%$" on our heads?? Sustainable concussions? Hell no, I am on to your 'real' agenda now! Henceforth, all of my CKs will use their Elite Tinfoil-wrapped-short-bus helmets. Snaffle, is a big hulking Agent Ex, so he will like that it is shiny, and that is better than licking clean the Data Terminals across the NBZ.

Evidently, they also use their Profession bonuses which is a bug and an exploit. I think that connectors should just refuse to deal with underlings. 'Sorry, chummer I need to talk to your boss ...' But Raven is having a really excellent week. First he gets to use an awesome unique club, which has never been seen before in the Old Irish neighbourhoods, and now he gets to negotiate contracts. Even better, Grävling has a reason to keep him around and train him up, even though he cannot use tasers. His cyberclaws mark 3 are working perfectly....k-snikt.... as is his Badger Hide mark 3 dermal armour. And *nobody*, but *nobody* else down home has a suit of Jaguar Armour. Talk about ganger-envy. Every kid in Dorchester wants to be 'another Raven' when he grows up. Bing Grady and Six Clip can hardly deal with the increased number of youths who really want to sign up. His current mission is to kill one of every opponent type in the NBZ. Including -- especially including -- drones. He even has a happy little song to sing as he slices them into pieces.

@los that made me chuckle, +1. grävling Raven sounds dark and violent, I feel a kinship for him....we can be buddies and disect drones sometime, though he probably won't like the chainsaw on account of being unable to hear his little song. ;D

but looking at intimidate after combat - there is no difference between our ck with intimidate 1 or leading face runner with intimidate 14[15] some time ago I started topic about this (with spreadsheet), Cory mentions that intimidate works correctly but for me its no difference

koles - the intention is that the leader of the team takes the skill checks, but it may not be perfectly implemented in all places. grävling - we want Runners to be your specialists. Having them be able to step in on certain dealings increases their value immensely, and gives you real reasons to train them up--especially a Face.

Does this mean that you have reconsidered, and it is no longer an exploit to send a runner in to negotiate for jobs based on the runner's profession?

Negotiate - yes. Get a % bonus based on the Profession of the Runner - no. Allowing the Profession bonus would lead to some really annoying "hot swapping" of characters to always get that extra percentage. I will check with Cory, but I think I will fix this so you can only get a bonus based on the Profession of your CK.

Maybe a smaller % for runner swapping then, keep the importance of the CK intact and add to the usefulness of runners.
