Version: Star Traders RPG Elite v4.3.23 Phone: HTC Rezound. Android v2.3.4
Bug) When choosing 'rearm' option after defeating an enemy vessel, the torpedos do not increase on my ship (there is room) Current ship: Spy Cruiser with possible 22 torps I defeated a few ships recently, one still had 15 torps. I chose rearm (I had 8 torps left) and I still had only 8 after. I recall this has happened previously, but now it's getting kind of annoying, so I posted

I think that not all torpedoes are equal or substitutable. The probability that the torpedoes on your victims's ship will match yours varies by ship type and other factors. Certain torpedo related ship upgrades make your torpedoes even more unique.

When you hit the rearm button, a bunch of dice-rolls determine if any torps are suitable. A bunch of factors are taken into account, including your own upgrades and the morale of the crew (crew with low morale don't look so hard).
Note any torp you take after combat will be of much lower quality than that you buy through the military bases.

Ways to increase torp %:
Avoid "Independent Ships" they use crappy torps.
Target ships with the same Faction as your Ship (not your Captain) for those Torps are most likely compatible.
Target ships with the same torpedo upgrades (that is, do not have torpedo upgrades.)
Target ships with large numbers of torps.
Do not use "Engines" as it tends to hit the torps.

NOTE ====
This is not a bug and is as designed. This design encourages game balance, utilizes Faction cultural/technology differences equation and scales to game difficulty. Those three things indicate it was a good design.
It is possible we could add a feature request for additional feedback to help new players understand the rule the first time they encounter it. If the player is paying careful attention, like most ST rules, they'll figure it out pretty quickly.

I actually notice this as well.
My torps actually increased when I was out of the victory / loot screen, even though it wasn't increased or actually never increased at all in the victory screen.

You don't get all the torps off an enemy ship, it's generally about 30-50%, depending on factors listed by cory above. But here's the (possible) bug - on the combat results screen, at the bottom, it has both ship stats. I hit the button to steal torps, and the enemy ship stat for torps goes to zero. But the player's ship torp value doesn't change unless you exit the victory screen and look in status->ship.

No ... on the victory screen after you check the Torps, you find the remaining ones unusable. Effectively they are dead weight because you clearly don't want to take over that ship (else you wouldn't be trying to steal its torps). You disable the remaining torps so that the enemy ship can't fire at you while you leave. Me ... I play extra safe and try and destroy the enemy after surrender as frequently as I can. Sure it changes that ole hidden attribute about being mean, but it's satisfying all the same.
