So.
After having died for ten million times on the first 50 weeks of Crazy (No thanks to the trade embargoes and pirates!) you've finally managed to make friends with all the syndicates and the houses, and they all think that you're the coolest thing since Narvidian Technology. In fact, they like you so much that they've given you access to special ships in their armada.
Yes, I'm talking about the Pride and Honour series. There are many new ships introduced to the game, but I think that these are the best by far. They can be bought anywhere in the faction even if Civilian Star Traders aren't willing to sell them. With a good piloting and intimidation level, they fly smoothly and quickly on ZERO FUEL (No more worries about mutinies and closed Exchanges! ), even in sale condition they've got a really decent set of weapons, and they handle in Space just like a fighter. How cool is that!?
These are my two-cents' worth of the Pride and Honour Ships. For those who've got them already, Congratulations! and for those who haven't, keep going.
I'll just start with this since I use it quite often.
The Pride of Cadar:
Looks like a Longbow-Class ship.
Hull :16
Armour :10
Engine: 25
Solar: 32
Crew: 40
Cargo: 70
Guns:10
Torps: 21
Speed:FAST
Agility:MEDIUM
Recommended Stats: High Piloting, Stealth, Wisdom
The Pride of Cadar functions like a larger cruiser or carrier, except that it's far more maneuverable, fuel-efficient and fast.
Given a sails upgrade, the Pride of Cadar can handle having one sail out pretty well. Its job is to stay at range and launch barrage after barrage of torpedoes, so make sure a restock location is always handy when you need it. I'd have Extended Gun Decks, Advanced Bridge System, Torpedo Control Pods for more torpedoes and increased accuracy, Extended Mainsails for Long-Range Bonus.
BEWARE! The Pride of Cadar is also the most susceptible among the Pride and Honour series to succumb to a close-range grinder. If you meet a Cutter, Jammer or Pirate ship, you have to flee or stay at range during combat. The ship is about as strong as an ant in close-range against giants like the Admiral Raider.
Pride of Rychart
I don't use this one at all. It looks pretty decent but somehow Rychart and Javat Prides aren't really my thing.
Pride of De Valtos
Hull:18
Armour: 10
Engine: 26
Solar Sails: 36
Crew: 100
Cargo: 120
Guns: 12
Torps: 4
Speed:FAST
Agility:MEDIUM
Recommended Stats: High Negotiation/Intimidate/Strength
The Pride of De Valtos is your merchant Liner, upgraded and upsized to Starfreighter scale. Though not quite the combat type, it has a lot of crew and cargo space- ideal for Explorers and Harvest-Explorers. Its High Fuel Efficiency also makes for a cost-effective ride across the sector for both Long- and Short- Haul merchants alike. A rather thin hull also allows low-skill pilots to handle this one like (mostly anyway) a dream.
All the same, there are some really important Do-NOTs with this ship. These stem from its very weak armament.
DO NOT engage in any combat further than Boarding Range. Your guns and torpedoes aren't nearly enough.
DO NOT send your entire crew out on an Explore with this ship. With the minimum crew required to captain this ship, you'll waste a few weeks gathering crew from the neighbouring planets (and you'll drain their Spice Halls also.)
The Honour Series
The Honour of Thulun:
Looks like a Dagger-Class Ship.
Hull:16
Armour: 8
Engine: 33
Sails: 33
Crew: 70
Hull: 70
Guns: 28
Torpedoes:14
Speed: Fast
Agility: Quick
Recommended Stats: High Piloting + Tactics + Stealth
By far the most versatile ship among the Pride and Honour Series, this ship can do anything to its opponent. Yes- it can do ANYTHING. Thanks to its optimal configuration of both 30+ sails and 30+ engines it can cruise through the Quadrant on a single drop of water and with some damage to sails. Its large crew allows for boarding attempts and expeditions, and its large cargo hold allow it to ferry unbelievable amounts of pay dirt to a shortage world. With its top-notch maneuverability it can easily escape or close in with an opponent, and this makes both Long-Range and Short-Range combat possible- and also maintains an optimal range of combat for your ship.
With this ship, I typically have Extended Gun Decks for an apocalyptic combo of 35 guns, an Advanced Bridge to maintain range in Space combat, a Torpedo Control Pods for more torps at higher accuracy, a Titan Components for bonus at SR, and a nice escape shuttle in case all goes wrong.
As mentioned before, the style of combat you use isn't really important with this ship. I typically like to close range quickly and wipe the opponents' engines out in a single pass, but if you're boarding, always remember to keep Weapons handy in your cargo hold.
DO NOT'S:
-Engage a Hive ship. You're looking for death if you do- the Honour of Thulun was not built for a fight with the Universe.
-Engage a Pirate of a level far higher than you. They can easily dodge your bullets and puny torpedoes- either surrender or run away. The ship doesn't make you invincible.
-Do too much exploration with ALL your crew. A complement of 70 crew is still difficult to fill.
