I would like to see a crew upgrade that is not included in the "interior" category. This way you can have the exo-tank, and an enhanced crew. Example: I love the Spear Cutter, but it sucks for exploration because it only has 44 crew. Okay, that request I know can be done. Another idea I had is probably not possible but I'll throw it out there anyway. How's about an upgrade that allows for additional officers. I know nothing about how a game is written, but something tells me that this would be terribly difficult or even impossible being that officers are tied to the captain, and not the ship. It would probably be easier to just add officer slots. Just thinking out-loud. I would like to see the crew upgrade thing though. That would be sweet. See when I'm bangin around in my Spear Cutter I'm forced into committing deplorable, immoral behavior because I don't have enough crew to participate in a noble profession like explorer. My Captains really aren't bad people, they just aren't given a choice.

Hi Captmo, Sorry, game engine doesn't allow what you are seeking. The crew upgrade logically is an interior category. 44 crew is actually okay for a bit of exploration (recommended party size is typically around 21). If you are really into exploration, there are a good number of ships that offer both large cargo + large crew numbers. Again, don't send all your crew off on a single exploration - the cost/benefit ratio severely swings towards the "cost" side by the time you get to 100+ For officers, the game is fixed at 3 officers only. You also can't get more upgrade slots (based on size of ship), which would otherwise have been really cool.

Thanks for the quick response. While on the topic of exploration, I was wondering if wild planets "dry up"? That is to say, do they run out of resources? The reason I ask is that as I raise my exp level I don't seem to become a better explorer. One would think that a level 50 explorer would have a much better yield than a level 10. In my experience this doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

They dry up if you abuse them, yes. You can actually permanently change the "Richness" of a planet if you explore too often or during certain rumors.
