Ah, now I understand why I haven't understood this yet!
One Question - if my ship is bought as MEDUIM agility and I upgrade it such that Engines become > 2* Hull, will the game treat my ship as MEDIUM or QUICK? (or does it just ue the numerical ratio Engines/Hull?)

The game will treat it as Medium and use the bonus from the additional Engine points

Okay, just one more thing. I know sails help acurate and evade torpedos, and guns help acurate guns. Do engines also evade guns, or is that sails as well? Depends on the range of the attack which ship attribute is used to calculate the defense dice. Defense at Combat Long Range = Solar Sails / Ship Speed Defense at Combat Medium Range = Solar Sails / Ship Speed Defense at Combat Short Range = Ship Engines / Ship Agility Defense at Combat Boarding Range = Ship Engines / Ship Agility Got it. There's nothing in the help section about this other than under sails in which it says sails "evade in combat". Also, its stated sails fire torps and engines fire guns, but I have a feeling engines would help with torps if at short range and sails would fire guns at medium and long ranges (which is done sometimes). Please clear this up at the help section during your next update. We should have a help section thread thats stickyed for people requesting additions or removals to the help.

I'll see what I can do in a future update, certainly. There are several hundreds issues logged about the help file and several long-time players and rules experts like slayerNz have volunteered to help.

Several hundred? I bet I can think of at least 50 things that are flawed in the help.
Also you've said people were working on the help section in the past, but no changes have happened. The 1 addition you made to the sails/engines was the only moification to the help in a while. Maybe you can have 2 help sections.... One for forum members and 1 for you guys. And the stuff that's put in to the forum help that you like/agree with you can add to your help.

You might actually be able to get into guiness for the most updates in a game. I just thought maybe it would be better if everyone could contribute, so it could be dome faster. Prehaps I could be a bit more tactful though

Nonetheless, I am definitely working on updates to the help section - it's just this stupid day-job thing that I have forces me to actually do work and not write help content. I've set myself some milestone targets but have already missed a couple. Cory'll soon just send me abuse and that'll help motivate me to finish

Everyone has different tastes in games -- I myself rarely look at the documentation -- personally preferring a complex system that I can "figure out" via experimentation. This style is not for everyone -- that is why we (me and a series of people who have tried to help) keep trying to improve the help files. Part of the reason ST RPG exists today is that I launched full-speed into the math and simulation code without any intention of documenting it in English. That game me the freedom to build and validate the layers and layers of complexity with a mathematical approach without a focus on concise structure or easily explainable equations.

But does the engines from ancient reactors stil give you a combat bonus becaue of the additional engines? Do the engines of titan components and ancient reactos help change range because of additional engines?

Where it says they have a bonus, they count as double (+10 instead of +5)
