Some more tips: Never have unused XP. If at any point you have enough XP to increase a skill, do it. Only increase physical skills once you cant increase th corresponding trained skills. EX: Don't increase strength if you can increase warrior, don't increase charisma if you can increase intimidate You can carry over 130 weapons which will give you less space for water but give you a greater boost in boarding. If you want to focus on only boarding, you can make initimidate warrior tactics pilot an stealth all the same. However, this approach will make it harder for you to advance and retreat, or dodge weapon fie. If you want to focus on only boarding, then dont get escape shuttle and get enstead weapon cabinet (which with the cargo hold +20% will allow you to carry over 150 weapons) or a type 2/3 boardingupgrade (each has their own advantages so you should talk to cory about the best for you). Tell me if you defeat them after following all this. Also, prehaps cory could give some advice for this issue (best upgrades, best skills for boarding, best ships)?

Also, in spite of the confirmation dialogs ... sometimes firing guns at point blank is the way to go.
Vs. Alien sometimes Ram isn't a bad idea either. Ram is a very aggressive form of Retreat, actually

Ram is a very aggressive form of Retreat, actually I've tried gunning/ramming at aliens at a much higher level. The guns completly unaffect them, and pressng ram wont even disrupt the boarding. With aliens at a level much higher than you, I've never won except by board. Am I doing something wrong? Prehaps the ram/gun works at lower levels, but not if the opponents level is super high?

Depends on ship size and speed, I suppose. Boarding is best left for large, happy, well trained Crews ... Gunning and Ramming for heavily armored fast and agile ships.

Started new Capt. on "hard" difficulty. Kinda feel stupid playing on the lower setting, but maybe I'll stand a better chance against the alien. Of course it will be more difficult to find them, but we'll see what happens.

Don't know if Cory made any changes, but the last two alien encounters I had were much less one-sided. Landed two torps on a space hive. That's never happened before. Then at level 12 I got into a fight with level 25??? Narvidian. He had 1000 crew to my 70, and I got some pretty good licks in before he killed me. Felt like if I had more than 25 weapons I could've won that one. Didn't know if Cory tweaked something, or my luck is improving?

In general, when one is fighting against an alien, Superhigh sails and massed torpedoes are recommended.
Remember to get a Pride of Cadar or a Cadar Battlecruiser when you get rich. Not only do they immensely help your money-earning abilities, they are real painful torp'ers for the aliens.

I would also add "Dragon Cruiser" and "Inquisition Cruiser" to that list. The latter needs Armor upgrades badly to compensate for the lower Hull value, but is still a fearsome ship for Xeno-warring.

Unless you bump into an alien with an lv much higher than yours with the wrong ship/AI. Then they'll be able to close range on you and board no matter what you do. Somebody was actually complaining saying they had a pilot with pilot upgrades and etc etc etc and they couldn't escape. Then again, cory said one time that some aliens do not get affected by weapons. Weapons is the essence of boarding strength, the god tool of any warrior. If aliens can't die from them, that's scarry!
