Nice finesse to go from 'Who do I need' to 'Which chum do I need' -- thus covering people such as myself who would never say "Who do I need .." instead of 'Whom do I need" while handling the case for the part of the world where the word "whom" is falling right out of the language, and sounds pretentious or pedantic when it is used.

Except ... I think that "Which chum do I need to talk to around here?" instead of "Which chum do I need to ask around here?" reads a lot better. Or "Which chum around here do I need to ask about this?" would also work.
