Hi all, bit of a newbie question.. Please forgive
Any chance you could explain the key to the map?
What do the colours mean?
What do the letters stand for?
Any help appreciated..

No problem. So there are planet icons used to distinguish between urban, wild, fringe and dead planets. You can distinguish the planet type also based on the letters shown. On the left, there are parameters for urban planets. Palace, Economy, Hall, Security, eXchange. They correspond to what you see when you land in the urban zone, one dot for every 4 points plus one dot extra. So you get • for 0-3, •• for 4-7, ••• 8-11 etc. I thought it is enough granularity. The same on the right for wild zones, letters are for Hazard, Exploration, HaRvest, Cache. The colors represent faction space with the same colors as used in the game. The map is generated from the game database, so it should be 100% accurate, but no real Star Trader would bet on that .

Thank you.. When you say "the colours represent faction space same as used in the game" I can't see those colours on the space map in game all I can see are green dots and red triangles, is that an iPad only issue do you know?

I am not sure how it works on iPad but you should be able to "Zoom map", to get the Quadrant overview. There you would see the faction colors.

Thank you.. When you say "the colours represent faction space same as used in the game" I can't see those colours on the space map in game all I can see are green dots and red triangles, is that an iPad only issue do you know? I realize this is several months old, but in case any other mewcomers read this, I will explain. On the travel screen, press the menu key on your phone, then access Zoom Map for a full overview of the quadrant. All tiny red dots are deep space/non-trade route squares, which use up more fuel. Green dots indicate safer, fuel-efficient trade routes. Then, you will see larger coloured squares around every faction controlled planet: Blue for Cadar, red for Rychart, magenta for De Valtos, light blue for Steel Song, green for Javat, and yellow for Thulun. These spaces act just like the green ones, except are controlled and patrolled far more heavily by the faction in question. This translates into more rep gain/loss in these zones. I hope this helps.

The only suggestion is perhaps a legends for what the letters mean(I'm still new and learning). Otherwise brilliant, conniving a way to use the plotters here at Boeing to print a wallpaper size one.

Wanted to bump this because of how incredibly useful this chart will be now that I found it. When I lost my old pc I lost the bookmark Slayernsz's incomplete but interactive chart that I used for reference when writing for the webcomic. I might photoshop some info text near the objects of interest. I remember seeing some charts for the various places and some planet and political data and a grid reference, but I can't find the thread it was in. Anyone know offhand?
