My sole request is for more awards and unlocks made available to us who stay in normal because of the permadeath in all higher levels. We know there are many of us who don't like or play levels with permadeath. Yet we pay for Elite also. Just because we choose to play without permadeath shouldn't mean we should be penalized by limited awards and unlocks. I am currently on lvl 501, and exp 135,405. I have played a Captain to Ghost status and stuck with him until he went all the way back down to positive status were he was resurrected and got all his functionality back. Yet there are no special upgrades, ships, or unlocks he can get. Shouldn't those that are loyal Elite players that chose not to play on permadeath be allowed to earn rewards and unlocks for our love of the game played our way? Watch the karma status get dinged again.

The thing is, even though its called "normal", its more of a "easy" difficulty as it is only the second of seven dificulties. The Basic and Normal dificululties are for players who are new to the game to get used it. Most ships, upgrades, professions are available automaticly. However, there are a few things which are locked, and can only become available by completing certain chalenges (awards). Challenges vary on which difficulty one must complete them in to unlock something. The reason no awards unlock anything when completed on normal is because there is no permanent death, which means almost all awards can be completed by anyone. Reaching level 50 or a high rank without changing ships is no problem as you cant die. If your on lv500 something, you should probably up the difficulty. Permenent death is really part of ST, and even though theres permenent death on Challenging, its still reletivly easy and there are plenty of things you can unlock on that difficulty. If you simply dont want to have permadeath period, you can stay on normal. But 50 percent of your level and no death, theres not much challenge. Oh, and I exalted you to remove your negative karma. It was a simple request and you shouldnt get smited for it EDIT: Oh wow i didnt know you could only exalt/smite one person oh well

LOL, thanks for the exalt The problem is Normal is the highest you can go without having to deal with permadeath. Some of us are just totally against permadeath. Dying and having to start at the last level completed is one thing. However dying and having to start with a new captain from the beginning just doesn't do it for us. When one of us speaks about it, you know the type of responses we get and I "believe" Cory has said he's at least thinking of making it a choice in ST 2. However a lot about awards is about loyalty to the game and we don't feel we are respected merely because we don't like permadeath.

In CK, what sort of permadeath is selectable, so you can have a custom game with everything as hard as hard can be, but no permadeath at all. But Cyberknights is a more recent game. I believe it would be a huge amount of work, to change ST to support this.

I believe Cory said CK's configurable difficulty will be part of ST2.

If there was no permadeath in ST, it would kinda ruin the challenge of the game. Maybe some type of save point every x levels, like if you get upto LV30 the game saves, and then if you die and you go back to LV30, you gotta get to LV60 to get another save point or else youll permenetly die, and then when you die and you get revived at LV60 you gotta get to LV90 in order to get a save point or else youll permently die and so on and so forth. But never being able to die like in Basic and Normal would make the game very boring to me.

ST will never be able to feature the "configurable difficulty" which you can find CK (and is possible in other Storyteller-based games). See ST2!

Yes that's the type of restart I'm referring to and know it's not possible with ST but may be a feature in ST2;)

I do not feel that it is an issue of "respect" at all.
Normal and Basic are included to enable and support players who wish to explore the game with less restarts and fewer character death events.
You can earn *every single Award* on all of the difficulties. The Unlocks were added as we expanded the game to enable more successfully players to move up in the difficulty scale more rapidly.
You can play on Impossible with no unlocks at all (which is normally how I play, resetting the game every few days) but for someone who is new to the game, the unlocks can help with some of the game's more difficulty elements.

Are there plans to include a couple more upgrades to unlock? There are still many awards that are *Future Upgrade Unlocks*.
