DEVICE: Motorola Milestone X Android Ver: 2.3.5 Char: Pirate Diff: Demanding
What HAPPENED:
When going down into a planet's Urban zone, my Star Trader's RPG elite game randomly generates a "Star traders elite app has unexpectedly stopped" crash message during the action to get to the planet, or when browsing through the planet's options. The screen subsequently goes completely black, and resets my ship on top of the planet in question. Sometimes it goes into an automatic ship to ship encounter. If it doen't automatically go into an encounter it -always- generates a ship to ship encounter when trying to go back down onto the planet that the ship got booted from.
Additional symptoms: Before this "unexpected stop" mesage pops, the game becomes very clunky and button actions begin to increase in time of execution. (From 2 seconds, to 3, to 4 to as much as 6 seconds for a screen to change)

Sounds like something is blocking ST's ability to do file I/O. A couple of questions -- 1. Other applications or services you recently added? 2. Is ST RPG on the SD card or main phone memory? 3. What version (Google Play or Amazon App Store) is it? 4. Can you help us out with a LogCat? LogCat: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nolanlawson.logcatIf you are getting these black screens, something is being logged as a crash to the Android OS log. I would never release something we didn't test across all our devices and have not seen this type of behavior on any test devices. We also get a lot of e-mails when there is an issue, and I haven't heard from any other Moto Milestone X users that they have a problem. I bet if we get a LogCat I can resolve / diagnose the cause.

K. I can't seem to ever have the time to sit and download the LogCat file, so I did the troubleshooting myself
This bug seems to happen because of a screen orientation. I have it OFF on my phone settings, the Star Traders RPG has it ON on ITS settings.
Once I turned the screen orientation off .. no more crashes.
Dunno if this is a permanent fix.

Not sure about the interaction of screen orientation controls with the game's orientation controls.
I am investigating.
