I have officially conquered my fear of aliens and I am hunting xeno again! I've been going over dead planets with dreadful report rumors over 100 times and flying back and forth in the nebula, but I'm not really getting that much. I feel like alien encounters are random, and there's really no way to help yourself find them. Haven't gotten any contracts vs. Aliens either. I feel like that's much more rare then actually finding aliens Any suggestions on how to find aliens more?

Artifacts + Patrol

As far as I can see it's just an easy way to go bankrupt quickly - waterfuel at Roavin costs a fortune, and coupled with repair expenses it's practically impossible to hang around the nebulae for long.

Can't carry artifacts cause they can increase alien attack power dramaticly. Patrol nebula or dead planets? When I patrol dead planets, I don't get nearly as many encounters as going over them back and forth. Would it be different with aliens though?

You asked how to find more aliens, and you got the best answer.

Aha, instead of jettison water, do we want a 'jettison artifacts' option?

You should be able to jetson anything at any time in deep space

OMG it worked!!!! Thank you corey Hey under score summary where it says how many times you won, can you put in parenthesis how many were bounties, pirates, aliens, smugglers, etc.? This way I can see how many aliens my captian has destroyed, as well as brag about it

You should be able to jetson anything at any time in deep space Mentioned on a few threads starting about a year ago, still haven't gotten around to re-writing enough of the code to enable this. Someday soon@

I hope so.
So does the patrol thing work for just independent dead planets, or faction dead planets as well?

I have an idea for the new upgrade. Rather than an increased bonus for aliens, how about this:
Damage Reduction for Boarding, Type III bonus, negate alien boost from artifacts in hold
After all, leviathan armor is worn by templars to fight aiens, so surely their most elite armor could withstand alien weapontry. This way you could carry around artifacts to atrract aliens and boost the vet without worrying about a 100% increase of your enemy attack power per artifact.

I get the feeling you're asking for a lot of things that will never be put into the game. You've stated elsewhere that you win 98% of your encounters with aliens, so why do you feel it's so important to keep pushing for these alien-specific upgrades? I personally think it's great that you have all these ideas for ST, but you seem to have little patience or understanding for the pace of development or for Cory's own vision of the game, at least it appears this way from my own observation.

I only win 98% of encounters because I'm always a combat-oriented combat, investing heavily on warrior. If I was a trader or explorer, I would alwayes lose. This upgrade is to give the non combat oriented captain a chance vs. Aliens. Otherwize, I'm always afraid to play as a merchant (the last time I was swallowed whole by a xeno mass murderer)
I'm sorry if you feel I have no pacience or understand of the delevupers vision. Just have a lot of ideas about st. I won't take it personally or even be upset if this upgrade ISN'T in the game but I just wanted to get the idea out. I know it probably won't be in the game, but I figured there's no harm in asking right?

You're right, there's no harm in asking. It just looks like you're pushing very hard on some of your thoughts and ideas, and I get the impression that some of the silences and arguments from Cory are a way of him saying "No" without saying so outright. Not that I claim to know the way the man thinks or feels, but I do have a certain sensitivity to context and feeling with regard to forum posts and chat that most people just don't have, and that may be my years of running forums and chat servers speaking.
Honestly, I think it's great that you're getting involved and helping out so much. I would just encourage you to try to look at it from the point of view that the TB's concept of the game is something that may never want to make certain changes because it goes against their personal feelings about it, if for no other reason. Also, as friends of mine say in the Android custom ROM development scene, the first rule of development is "There is no ETA." In other words, features and fixes get implemented when they get implemented, not before, not after, not when enough people sign a petition saying "WE want THIS in YOUR ROM." The TB'S already far exceed my expectations as developers, and I am personally quite content to let them include or exclude anything they see fit, whenever they see fit to do so, and do my best to make this clear, even if it's just my internet voice alone saying so.
