I have noticed a couple potential bugs when taking over a new ship. If you have 30/40 cargo on board and find a ship with a hold of 60, and take it over, you can "overstock" your new ship. Lets say it has a cargo of 40/60 on board. You simply go into the cargo screen, dump your 30 cargo, take the ship and bam... 70/60 cargo when you hit port. Once you sell back down below the limit, you cannot exceed it again. Maybe this is intentional, i.e. stuffing your new ship with the spoils of war. It would make sense for there to be a serious morale/fuel penalty for this.
Also, being the ruthless pirate that i am... i almost always destroy the ship after combat for a few extra credits. If you take a ship, you can still destroy what is presumably your OLD ship for the same scrap as your new ship... if you happened to take out a warship with a shuttle this would more glaringly apparent as after capturing a warship you can scrap the shuttle for the same amount as the massive warship...

Added to the bug list, both issues.
I will try to figure out the first issue promptly. It happened to me last night and I ended up in a situation where I was out of water fuel but had too much cargo in the hold to buy more.
The second one has another part -- if you destroy the shuttle you get paid like warship & you loose rep like warship.
Get it fixed ASAP

i think at this point we will be adding a check "ship is overloaded" so that you cannot intentionally do it. it should only happen when you transfer cargo from the Captain's ship to another Ship, and then Capture it.
so the warning shouldn't be too annoying I hope, and it def stops the bug.

Damn, my favorite" work around" to the low level small cargo blues.

sounds like he figured this out a while back and was using this as a way to make money like he has a bigger ship when he doesn't.

sounds like he figured this out a while back and was using this as a way to make money like he has a bigger ship when he doesn't. To be fair, this has existed since release. I discovered it when I bought a ship that came pre-populated with more cargo than it had room for. I tend to play ruthless pirate types, though, and will stick with the starter ship until I get my combat attributes up, then shutdown the engines of a heavy hauler that has a large cargo already in the bay, swap my cargo over, and steal it. Take the cargo and sell it for a quick boost in cash (usually enough to fully repair the hauler and then some), and fly through space killing everything I come across until something like a Jango-classor Flagship comes along, then lather, rinse, repeat, since unless the pilot skill of the enemy ship is really high, even an atmohauler can drop one low enough with torpedoes you can do a banzai charge to drop their engines before they pop you. The excess cargo typically pays for full repairs and at least one upgrade, in my experiences. Semi-related: If you swap ships, and the new one has a massively higher crew capacity than your old one, the game has no problems letting you sail away while your defeated foes try to cram 170 crew into 30 bunks. I figured the supplies were the same way: Just cram the walkways full, like in submarines.

Yea, I was doing that for quite some time. I figured it was a bug, one that would be fixed eventually. I had been coin that so often, I didn't even think to report it.

One thing I have noticed when swapping cargo between ships after combat is that the game defines your ship as yours, but titles the other ship as a dock. That info help correct the bug?

Havocme,
Astute observation and that is the real source of the issue.
I still need to get the manual trade stuff cleaned up to honor maximums.
That is, however, the final hurdle before I can add a "Take All" button, a much requested time saver ... especially for people star trading it at high speed! =)

I assumed those poor Crew got tossed out of an airlock and that is why it is so bad for your reputation to take a ship and leave spare crew behind. Maybe just give them Boarding Suits and tell 'em to hang on the hull? =) Do you feel like the reputation penalties are too harsh for this action?

Rep shmep. Who needs rep when you are a Cedar pirate who plunders and kills everyone he meets.
