I sometimes hunt down an enemy on a kill contract, destroy the ship, and get a message "course plotted to next contract" when I only had one contract going. The second target is in the same location and in a different ship. I click on the bridge button and Patrol is highlighted, I do so and I destroy it too. I end up with the loot from both!
(I did not think to check at the time to see if I had been paid twice)
VERY rare, perhaps 3 occurrences ever (so the past 5 months or so) last time was yesterday with latest version of ST 4.6.13. I think it's only been in deep space.
