Thought there should be a thread for the new(ish) campaign. Its new to me at least.
Mission 1 is good. I lost a few times until I found the strategy. There is a glitch, tho. The briefing says the objective is to get 50 kills, then it says 25, but on Hard and Normal I had to get 33 and on Easy 35!
I got those numbers without using Hydras because xenos dying in flames are hard to keep track of.

rico - removed the inconsistent text for the next release. The goal is to kill 25 xenos.

I don't mind admitting I am barely getting thru on Hard. There are a ton of aliens and they are on me from turn 1, not even time to get in formation. I'm not using hydras because they don't have enough ammo to last to the time limit.
The first three missions are a little repetitive because they are all such a onslaught of aliens that all you can do is hold position and wait for the time limit or kill counter. A little more variety would be better.

That's fair feedback, I just played through as well and I can see what you mean. The levels might flow better if we swap them around or add another variation in the middle. The xeno into the formation on turn 1 is intended as a challenge early in the game, and puts pressure on staging the Templar formation in different phases. As we move more of the difficulty into systems like Fog of War we'll probably see less need to utilize the scatter deployment difficulty pattern. We will be supplying upgraded Hydra weapons in an upcoming release and the Naval Veteran Captain can really help offset the Hydra's ammo limitations. Don't forget, they can attack with "Special" with zero AP

rico - sorry that you feel it is repetitive, but that was on purpose for the campaign -- I designed it to be a defensive slog! I really liked the idea of "falling back" across a single map, pulling off defensive feat after defensive feat as the entire fortress collapses around you! Hope you enjoy the later levels.
