I think its time for some new big/ big crew ships Or better yet, some more fast/medium or medium/quick ships with 29+ hull (like slayerz and dragon cruisers). I'm sure that'll make players happy.

Personally hoping at least one of the new ships will be a larger cargo type with good speed and agility. Right now the Assault Skylift is my general workhorse with the Harbinger Cruiser running a close second. My Carnifex and Omega Cruisers only get pulled out when running contracts because their cargo capacity really limits their range and staying capacity. I can keep my Harbinger and Assault Skylift on Surveillance Battles or Blockade duty during solar wars for an amazing length of time. However some high rated medium speed ships and Fast ships can evade me and the low agility doesn't help me close on my own terms.

What's unique about the carnifex cruiser is that its go big crew (over 200) and is both medium speed AND agility, so if you invest enough in pilot and stealth, you should be okay. The other ship is the obliterator cruiser. It has 40 hull and still medium speed and agility AND 25 armor so if you get armor upgrades it should be able to repel ramming. The carnifex cruiser has only 100 hcargo, while the obliterator cruiser has 120 cargo, but only 115 crew.
I agree that there should be some better merchant ships. Right now I feel all the merchant, pirate, smuggler, and bounty ships suck and all the best ships are military. Merchant ships should be known for having big cargos. Yes, the shps with big cargos generally belong to merchants, but they have incredibly small crew or are low agile/slow, and its more common to see a big crew military than a big cargo merchant.
Smuggler ships should be known for small hull/crew for a reduced signature, and incredibly fast to avoid encounters and run away from military.
Pirates should be known to have big crews, and/or be fast/quick to prey on merchants. Enstead, pirate ships are just inferior to military ships in all dice.
Bounties ships should be like Military, should have big hulls or crew, or be small with medium crew but be incredibly fast/agile to catch up with fast bounty targets.
Right now the best ships for all dice are all military ships. Following this formula means that each professon ship could excel in different areas. There needs to be more big cargo merchant ships that aren't inredibly low on crew or slow, smuggler ships that are extreamly fast, pirate ships with big crew, and bounty ships that are extreamly fast or have big hulls and/or have big crews.

I am not sure I agree, just looking at the numbers I don't see what you are saying from a balance standpoint.
I'll makes some notes and keep looking for better balance!

There is one here somewhere that's a Google Document you can filter the ship metrics out pretty well, though the database it uses is not as up to date as the one I'm using right now.
Good feedback. always looking for new ship design ideas (that don't go around the mathematical rules!)

Good feedback. always looking for new ship design ideas (that don't go around the mathematical rules!) Few quick facts from the Google database. Only 19 ships have 120 or higher cargo ratings. Of those 19 only 8 ships have crew sizes of 115 or higher. 3 of those 8 ships are rated slow/low, 1 is Medium/low and 1 medium/quick. Only 1 of the 19 is rated fast/quick and it has the smallest hull, 2nd smallest crew and 3rd fewest guns. In total only 6 of the 19 ships are rated as Fast for speed and only 3 as Quick for agility. Of the Fast rated ships the Pride of DeValtos has 100 crew the others are 52 or less. Despite its crew size the Pride is possibly the least combat worthy ship of the 19 as it is tied for fewest guns and torps and has the 2nd smallest hull with relatively low armor.

My main Captain I'm playing on Crazy currently (Keir-Bri Stormraven) is a Spy. Surveillance during Spy Battles and Blockades during Solar Wars are what she lives for. Having a high cargo rated ship is important to maximize the time she can spend on station. While combat isn't a high priority when it occurs her favored tactic is to close with and board the opposition, then after taking everything of value and filling out her crew, she blows the rest for salvage. You need higher crew numbers to board on a regular bases without taking/risking punishing losses.

There are only 9 ships listed with Cargo ratings of 142 or greater. Of those the Admiral Cruiser and Harbinger Carrier both give a good crew size but are rated slow/low for speed/agility. I consider the Assault Skylift and Frontier Freighter to be just barely adequate for my style as far as crew goes though they both have a medium speed and better cargo capacity. Indeed, despite their crew size the Assault Skylift has become the primary workhorse in my fleet since it combines decent defenses, good offensive firepower and a fairly large cargo capacity, the Harbinger Carrier is probably my second favorite of the bunch.

Hey, maybe stupid question. I bought this awesome game 3 days ago or so via amazon, but the amazon app tool launcher doesnt tell me that theres an update
i got version, .19
am i too impatient? anyone else got the same problem?

I bought this awesome game 3 days ago or so via amazon, but the amazon app tool launcher doesnt tell me that theres an update i got version, .19 am i too impatient? anyone else got the same problem? Amazon does take a little while to update the game -- right now they are "Reviewing" v4.6.21 and we should expect to see it in the Amazon App Store in 1-2 days. Sorry for the delay, this is by Amazon's choice. We send our updates to Google and Amazon at the same time (always) but Google takes 30 seconds and Amazon takes 48-72 hours.
