Right now, almost all fast/quick ships are relatively small, in both hull and crew. Could there be more ships that have around 30 hull and are fast/quick like slayarz and dragon cruiser? There are actually a lot of ship that id like to see similar ships of
Omega Cruiser is the only fast and quick ship that has high crew.
Titan Cruiser is the only ship with 300 crew
Carnifex Cruiser is the only big ship with high crew that is medium in speed/agility. The other 40+ hull ships that are medium in speed/agility have 115 and 110 crew, while this ship has over 220!
Slayarz cruiser is one of only 2 quick ships with 50+ engines
Dragon Cruiser is one of only 2 fast ships with 50+ sails
Luxury Liner is one of only 2 ships that has a cargo hold of 180+
Spear cutter is the only fast/quick ship with 130+ cargo (it has 144 cargo)
Resililient Cruiser is the only 25+ armor ship that has an armor value close enough to the hull value that it could be pushed past the hull value with upgrades
Would love to see more ships like these!

I guess it might be game balance - you have to pick one advantage and run with it. Otherwise the game just becomes a wait until you buy the Mega Ship and it's easy after that.
Then again, I only play up to Demanding at the moment, so I do not know what it's like in the world of Crazy+...

I still think it would ruin the game to be able to have every piece you want in place at once, even if it would make a select few happy. Having to find the combinations that work best for your play style, and working around the disadvantages, is what it's all about. I'd love a build-your-own-ship option, but it's not gonna happen, so I make do with what I can get.

I don't thinkyou guys are getting what I'm asking. Right now, there ARE "mega ships in a sense and the game IS prety mich waiting until you get tha ship. That's why I think it would be nice to have more ships like the ones above, so those ships aren't in their own league and so you DON'T have to wait around for a secific ship because it has charecteristics (crew size, enines, sails) that are diferent from any other ship
I'm not saying to have ships better than the ones above. I'm saying to have ships simmilar to them so they don't have some outstanding prominant feature from every other ship

Something I've been wondering about. Does the game scale what ships are available by captains XP level or the passage of time, or is it supposed to be completely random? There have been times I've managed to amass a lot of money very early, but the shipyards never seem to have any decent ships available at that point. Surprisingly the Omega Cruiser seems to be one of the big name ships that puts in a fairly early appearance.

Some military ships can only be available with high rank. Its mostly based on size, sothe omega cruiser (15 hull) will pobably be avilable at low or no rank. But a harbinger carrier (50 hull) or obliterator cuiser (40 hull) won't be avilable unless you have high rank (rank 8+ probably?) The planet makes a diference too. Some lanets, depending on the planet, faction, conflicts, and rumors will have a lot of ships or little ships, many merchant ships or many military ships. At independent planets your rank is considdered 0, so you won't find big military ships. No ships are locked based on time or XP.

I know this thread is pretty old but its the most recent "Ship Request" I can find I'd like some new ships with lower hull (15-20), high engines and sails (50) and lots of guns (35). Medium crew and cargo and minimal torpedoes to balance out the stat allocation. I'm not sure if that seems a bit unfair, its weakness would be getting boarded due to the lower crew numbers.

I'll see what I can do. The program that does the ship design has a set of 50 or so rules in it that prohibit some statistics mixture for consistency and game balance. I'll look into the RawPaw Cruiser

Cory if you make a rawpaw cruiser it better be accompanied with a starfixer cruiser <joke> Though "starfixer cruiser" does have a nice ring to it no?

A Customizable ship would be good. Simply assign the stat points however you like. If you put all the points in engines and guns, you have none left to assign to armour, sails & torps, it automatically balances out. It would have to be very expensive to purchase and to repair due to its custom design.

It would have to be very expensive to purchase and to repair due to its custom design. This isn't something that fits into the 50AE - 1000AE time frame in the Star Traders Exodus storyline, so we designed the game in such a way such features were never going to be possible. Cut out a lot of development time, but it is a request we get from time to time. It's a trade off, customizable ships really cut into some people's enjoyment and I know we've gotten feedback on both the pro and con sides of this. Sure, you could make an argument (however naive) that people who didn't want to customize ships didn't have to but it would irrevocably change the tone of the game. Anyway, won't be in ST RPG. Star Traders 2 ... maybe. Probably not, but "design your own ship" and "pick all the statistics via upgrades and system components" are really similar to the player in the end.
