In the latest update it says we have the opportunity to take our hired out hands that we pay for near weekly, and eventually hand them a mountain of nuyen as their skills get better and better.
It is to my understanding that eventually you can make them allies. What exactly does this mean and how many earned XP do they need to get that rank?
I am currently paying thousands and thousands each week, which is expensive but manageable, but I'd rather just know when we should expect them to be less hired hands and more "good guys".
Thanks!

When your at the team management screen, you should see a button that says convert for any one you have hired. I am not sure what the formula is for just how much XP you need to convert them. You should be able to make them an ally from the moment you hire providing you have enough XP. I could be wrong though. There is a lot of smart people on this forum, hopefully we can all help

I have one right now with 320, just wondering if it is something like 500 or something like 1000, as the rental fees for the hired hand goes up considerably as time goes on.

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention that the XP spent to convert them to allies comes from your characters unused XP. The first person I converted cost almost 500 XP. That was no problem since I had already maxed out all my skills\attributes and I had over 700 XP to spend. My understanding is that the lower in skill level of the hireling, the less XP it cost to convert them. It all depends then on how you want to play the game. Do you want a team of low level characters right from the start, or do you want to wait carefully build and choose your team.

That was what I was trying to balance -- the multiple ways to manage a team. Money, XP, DV, skill builds, equipment ... it all connects

Okay, so it's not the exp on the NPC but the exp on the primary character. Wish I knew that before I went and dumped another 200 exp on my npc.

How do I convert gang mercenarys to runners? Same process. They need to get to 10XP and then the "Convert" button will appear.
