So I have made a selection of characters and started them 'the hard way ' -- no racing to Texas Roadhouse and the Bar of Birds to get one glorious day of high paying jobs as day 1, before the game catches up with you.
The new monsters are easier to kill. But they are still very good at killing you.
I wonder, perhaps, if 'easier to kill' is not the solution we want to the problem. My dead knights demonstrated the problem that a clubber or a dog that can whack you will kill you.
My Knights are all wearing Combat Coats early -- B:6 D:3 Dodge:-1 for Y975. Soft and not nano-ready, of course. I think these are the most effective armours you can buy for under 1K. But you still must not get bit or whacked with a club ...
The single best thing I have found for new char longevity is to get them a taser glove (if they are capable of it) and the Strumwhelger M2 if they are not. Later they want to walk about with a Mk251 Bounty, but at the early stages, AP:4 is too steep and the M2's AP:3 is what you need. Better weapons are a higher priority than armour.
Thus, if the point of the exercise is to make the game easier for newcomers, who complain that it is too hard, I fear that 'weaker enemies' can only do so much. Perhaps if their sticks only did a maximum damage of 1?
Just thinking out loud here. But I have lots of dead knights that indicate that getting whacked with a stick is as bad an idea with the weaker enemies as with the stronger ones. Instead of enemies that are easier to kill, it may be that enemies who are rotten at killing is more of what we need.

grävling - thanks for the feedback! The new set of weaker enemies certainly got easier to kill but did not downgrade their weapons. Some of them lost points of brawling / firearms, but not many. Sounds like those enemies that are marked as "weak" should get a little weaker. How do you feel about the general ramp up of mob numbers and difficulty?

As long as I kept my distance, the game was easy. Of course, I am playing on Brutal, and have a certain amount of experience. As soon as I thought -- well, I will just take one blow, well, that is the decision that got me killed every time.
If the monsters get to 3 or 4 of them before I get an M2, then I die. So hanging around doing the cheapest missions from Vinny the Rat is not an option -- you need to get more expensive ones early. Though I must say I had a game where Vinny did nothing but give out jobs with a Bonus Payment. That was fun and very profitable. ;D

allow me to put my 2 cents into this conversation. im no expert but i have been an elite player since day 1. so here are my ideas. my suggestion is to have "noob" zones similar to mmos. for example..los v and fennian are starting zones.once the player grows and branches out to bravestar, knights horizon, etc. the difficulty ramps. what graving said about skipping ahead to advanced areas early is fine if you understand the game mechanics but most new players dont. i understand that cyber knights is a labor of love for hardcore players but as all game developers will tell you,the casual players are needed as well if you want to get your game to as many players as possible.word of mouth can only do so much. these are just my thoughts guys.i love this game and its darn near perfect as it is in my opinion.

This newbie zone is planned for when the tutorial is ready. Which ought to be fairly soon now, eh?

@travis - thanks for the feedback. I think this jives with gravling's suggestions to (again) weaken the monsters in the gang area while you have low XP. Once you are crossing the 50 XP line, I'd consider you less of a newbie. grävling - a couple of other major events side-tracked our testing agenda for CK. There is one "end of game" dialog to write, and the final testing to complete and then its ready for prime time!
