My question - is the flame on the forehead of the Hydra cannon enough of a distinguishming feature that you can pick him easily? you can distinguish him on the play field also as is true with the captain.

I am most curious -- when you are looking at the list of Templar heads in the HUD, is that level of visual indication enough? If we took a similar tact for scouts / Neptunes, etc would it be sufficient? Actually, the Neptune is already unique, but I don't think it is clear enough of a visual queue (ammo backpack on the edge).
Also sounds like the request might then include "differentiate in HUD and on the map."
Thoughts about Soldiers = Green, Scouts = Grey-brown?

I'd class this as HUD. The ability to exit a game and return to the menu would be nice.
My new phone runs 4.0 and lacks a 'menu' button, I can't remember from my old phone if there was in-game options or not.

Thoughts about Soldiers = Green, Scouts = Grey-brown? my initial thought and comment was in reference to the portrait in the hud being a different color scheme or something. but if the token was also unique that would be awesome! I think the shoulders of the hydra are a different color right? maybe the same would work for the scout? but a light brown hulk would look pretty good!

Yeah, but what if you want to just save progress and get to menu. I know you can do that by exiting the game entirely (allowing you to "resume" later), but adding that in as an official function means you are able to drop out of a game without leaving TA.

In the 4.x Android OS release the hardware menu button has been replaced with a "3 dots vertical" button which is usually located in the bottom right or bottom off-center. The function is the same and you can access all of the briefing, help, options and so on. You can exit and resume the button using the "home" button which now takes the shape (in Android 4.x on phones and tablets) of a square with a triangle on top.

but if you were to add a "save to menu" type button in the game options (along with briefing, options, etc), it would be even better as you wouldn't need to actually leave the game in order to get back to the menu without aborting.

I don't follow. Why would you want to go to the main menu in the middle of a map?

edge-cases ... examples include: Checking game version number Reviewing Squad summary ...
Okay ... so very poor reasons. Scratch the suggestion to add that "save to menu" option.
Maybe just add version number to the in-battle menu, add a "Squad" button that lets you view the squad stats + equipment (no ability to change). Finally, in briefing, please list the name of the current level at the top.
Also (man, still in babble mode) ... it might be nice to show a summary of the current level: * Turn number * Turns Remaining (if that is a factor) * Nbr of Xeno's killed

TA Issue #747, entered it last night -- add mission name to briefing. in-game status summary showing turns, kills, remaining turns, current equipment -- great suggestion, on the roadmap. Maybe even build that into the briefing, but it's tricky because the map does not like to share it's data

My HTC Desire C doesn't have a 'menu' button in any shape next to the 'Home' key. It's an HTC design fault. All my menus are softkey in the display.

Hey Yurak, Bummer that your phone doesn't have a menu button. I see that it has a "recent apps" button, but that doesn't help. As a workaround, perhaps it could be useful to have an area of the UI that allows you to get to the menu. I mocked up a standard type pause icon in the top-right of the UI that could take you to the menu. It'd be 50% transparent, so shouldn't obscure any of the important gaming elements, and the top-right part of the UI is pretty vacant in terms of gaming elements, so it won't clutter up the space too much. That might be an interesting option with a toggle in the main options.
Out of curiosity, what are the main test devices The Trese Brothers use to test?

The start screen says $1.99, but Google play is charging $2.99. What gives?
A reload button would be awesome and the red highlighted ares is a great idea since you have a similar interface in CKRPG.
I did have a question, in the tutorial part II, there was a part where I could hit a target thru a wall, is this a bug?
