Hi all,
been reading here for ages but this is my first post. So i've been playing for a while and done a few things just never noticed one of the ladder connectors. So what faction has one? I would like to focus on one of those lines. My most experienced CK is very very unfriendly with the Yakuza so that one wont work there. ;D
Great game btw, having fun with my Agent Ex sidekick
Vin

vindalloo - the Fennians, Blue Ox, Los V, and BraveStar all have Ladder Connectors. If you already have the Yakuza, you might join the BraveStar ladder... ask around the security gate or the different backroom clubs in the Downtown Gateway and someone will point you toward the ladder. Ps. If you'd like specific directions, I can provide, but its fun to do a bit of hunting yourself!

vindalloo - there is also a Yakuza Ladder Connector, if you feel like mending that relationship!

I'm really having problems. Cant get my Rep up. Especially with LosV, i keep getting attacked in their area and either i let myself get killed or i fry the punks. And that means massive rep loss. I've been playing for months and have never got my rep over 30 with any faction. Wit MARS i was actually loosing rep while sleeping, is that normal??
I guess i need some help here.
Heres an idea for modification: Would it be possible to have a different option than fighting against encounters, like pay/do job for free (and gain rep)/go into "prison" etc.. as this can be really really frustrating.

vindalloo -- how many jobs does your computer take? If the answer is not '3 or more' get a larger computer. It's very hard to get your rep up with a faction with a 2 job computer and astonishingly hard with a 1 job computer. At least on brutal.
Then head to Tuckmore's saloon. Do jobs out of Tucks. Every time he wants you to go murder somebody, accept the job and then cancel it. Also for package delivery to the wrong end of Copley Square or Back Bay Slums, if you are too weak to go there, accept the job and then cancel it. All you want is message delivery and package delivery and pickup. When you start to see your first red line in your heat display, find a hotel and sleep.
To keep your heat low, try to use non-lethal weapons in the inevitable encounters you do have. So you want to be using the Defensor MT blaster-gun (get this from the Bungalow) and the MT taser glove (get this from Back Bay Importers). It is shooting the hell out of things with real bullets that sends your heat sky-high.
While you are in Yakuza land, you can check to see if Vinny has some more deliveries to be made in that end of town. Stay away from 'KH Logistics' -- there is no mission that pays well enough in rep or cash to be worth the hazard of going there. Try not to deadhead back to Tuckmore's from KH and Yakuza land -- take jobs from the Yakuza gambling den against Blue Ox back to Roxbury Crossing. (But don't take the ones to Fennian). The point of getting your rep up is to take a large number of jobs in a small area, in a short period of time. You don't want to spend a lot of time walking around between jobs. Fennian is just too far away.)
Don't use taxis. They are too slow. You end up sleeping away your rep gains.
Let me know if this works out better for you.
About losing rep while sleeping -- yes everything decays a bit while you sleep. The larger the rep you have to start with, the less it decays. So if they only like you a little, you can lose all of that in a hurry. Once they love you a lot you can ignore them for weeks and lose hardly any rep. Plus, there is a new twist to the game now, hot zones. If you sleep in a hot zone your heat goes up, not down. So if you are sleeping to reduce heat at the time, this can be a real problem for you. I just had things go pear shaped in North Square. I thought, fine, I will sleep the heat off at the hotels here and then head for ganger land. (I don't have a taxi connection that will take any heat yet.) Alas. With every sleep my heat got _worse_! Had to race to the Best Value Inn to get a reducing night's sleep.

Big thanks sofar A 3 job computer is very expensive and the V Jobs pay rather crappy. What to do there?

take jobs for Streets out of Spencer Street Butchers to raise cash. Only go to BS land if the job is very near the phone, though. The Lion and the Harpy is another source of good playing jobs. And escort jobs out of the Yakuza Gambling den to Fennian pay well, also.
I added more stuff to my other note.

I found a fennian connector, McCougan, but even with a high rep he keeps saying he's not ready yet. What gives?

anaxis - McCougan is one of the unfinished threads in the BETA game. Sorry, he really is not ready and will not respond regardless of your Reputation!

that's kinda what I figured. oh well now its off to up my Mars rep & find their connectors. None for Mars (or any Corps) yet. Blue Ox, BS, Fennian, Los V, Yakuza. and half a connector in Streets. And a 'would love to sell you this cool wep, but your Az rep is too low.' All there is so far, sorry!
