Trivial Engagement by Collin Mizell
As the captain watched from his command chair out into the blackness he noticed a slight shimmer. At that point he knew a battle was upon him. Years of experience had sharpened the captains skills, so much infact that he could see a ship coming with his bare eyes. As a few seconds passed the captains suspicions were confirmed. Alarms sounded off across the command deck. The radar operator hollered over the alarms "unidentified ship incoming, titan class! And within what seemed like an instant the enemy ship had nearly filled the view screen. A truley massive ship bristling with guns. All was silent on the bridge for what seemed like an eternity but a atlast the silence was broken by the sound of the titan charging it's plasma cannons... to be continued
Well leave me you're thoughts if you like it ill continue the story

Continued
The sound was all too familiar to the captain. Within seconds he was barking out orders. Raise shields! Seal all bulkheads! Prepare boarding parties! The captain knew that he would never win against a titan in ship to ship combat. His only chance was to board the enemy ship. There he would have the advantage, his crew was specially trained to board ships. In the tight corridors of the titan their numbers would be irrelevant and his elite team could easily dispatch the enemy crew. Down in the hanger bay 3 squads of 7 were prepping for battle. 21 soldiers against a crew of over 1000 seemed like suicide but in truth, the odds had never been more in their favor. The time had come the soldiers were loaded into the dropships and with a flash of light, the dropships shot out of the hanger bay into an endless stream of flak. To be continued...
Once again comments and opinions welcome.

I like it -- in Star's Edge there is a clear definition of "Soldier" as a person who fights in gravity and Crew fights in ship to ship combat. You might want to say: "The time had come the soldiers were loading into the Shuttles." In the language of ST dropships are for accessing planetary surface actions and Shuttles are for ship to ship combat. I like the perspective and obviously my feedback is just minor details about the ST universe

As the shuttles approached the hull of the titan multiple fighter flew out of the hanger bay. In a last ditch effort to fend off the shuttles the fighters engaged but were shot down by the shuttle's mothership. With a flash of light and the screaming of engines the shuttles landed into the Titan's hanger bay. The titans crew ran in fear at the sight of the shuttles. Knowing they would stand no chance against trained soldiers. Within minutes of landing the soldiers secured the hanger bay and were moving for the bridge. It took 30 minutes to move through the ship clearing corridor by corridor room by room but at last they had reached the bridge. With the bridge sealed with a blast door the only choice was to breach it with a charge. This was the deciding moment, the moment there could be no mistakes. As one of the soldiers attached a charge to the door the rest prepared to breach. The charge was set and counting down... 3...2...1 BOOM! ... to be continued

As fast as an eye blinks the soldiers stormed the bridge killing anyone in sight. As they moved to the front of the bridge they spotted the enemy captain. Desperate he dashed foward to try to grab his pistil off the table but before he could 3 bullets ripped through his chest. As the captain lay bleeding on the deck one of the soldiers walked over to him, aimed at his head, and pulled the trigger. That was it they had won. The only thing left was to loot the hold and return to their ship. Back on the ship the captain was informed of his victory. Anyone else would celebrate but he knew this had just been one battle. A single battle thats all. He had won the day but tomorrow another one awaited him. Though dark and danger this is the life he chose this is the life, of a STAR TRADER.
