Awesome ship list Fenikso, thanks. I've read in the forum that certain rank ships only become available after reaching a certain rank. What about the other ships? Is there a certain level that has to be achieved before they start showing up at star docks? If so I'd like to see a column on the ship list for availability criteria. Also a column for rarity would be interesting as well.

Specifically I'm looking for a spear cutter which I determined from Fenikso's list to be the most ideal ship for my play style. I'm only level 11 right now but I have plenty of creds and I've been taking long range contracts stopping at every planet along the way but it just won't show. If it's a question of rarity, that's fine it's just part of the game but if there's a condition I haven't met yet I'd like to know that so I'm not looking in vain. Searching for this ship has become my focus at the moment.

david - Rank 1 for most of the military ships (in list they are type "starter" in the table and their names start with the faction name). Rank 16 for Flagship military ships.
Pride / Honor military ships require award unlocks. I forgot the award names, but if you look at the award list, it should be easy to find.
The ships ending with Templar (like Rychart Templar) are unlocked with Ships of Honor 2 award or similar (also do not remember the exact name).
You can buy military ships in StarDock / Rank Ships.

It seems that more expensive ships are rarer. The worlds with high Economics rating usually sell more rare and expensive ships. Also rumors and faction conflicts affect ship availability (easier to find military ship when faction is in war for example).

Spear Cutter is #6 most expensive ship, so I guess it is also very rare.

I have very vague knowledge in this field, so maybe slayernz will have more hints.

How rare a ship is isnt always the same as how expensive. Ship price has a huge curve for speed and agility, so its not uncommon for a slower or less-agile ship to be better and more rare than a ship thats quicker or faster, despite being cheaper

Thanks Fenik. This is almost exactly what I need. I just need a way to put the graphic to the ship name so I can see who is who.

(Q) how is the Valentine and the Vae Victus not the same class ship? The art is identical. Is one an advanced refit of the other?
