Jacob - More of a Baldur's Gate reference as that is probably the first place I have heard the sentence. But it is quite popular saying . BTW: Were you able to get the list just fine?

Good ol' Baldur's Gate. Some of the best gaming in my 25 years in the hobby. Total agree !! +100000 When it first came out, I think I had just started high school. I wasn't very good at the game, and never beat it. But I sank so many hours into it. I now own all the Black Isle/Bioware D&D games from that era on GOG. There are a few I never played, but they look cool. Do you remember the "Gold Box" games from the late 80s and early 90s? Pool of Radiance, Ravenloft, Eye of the Beholder...so many good memories. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun with a game, just adventuring through dungeons and caves and forests. Err, no offense Cory.

HateSolstice - eye of the beholder ! OMG ! It was so hard ! I loved every bioware/D&D products they were so nice Not to lick any ass here but I found a lot of BG into HoS, thinking strategy, carefully planning xp spending (of course, in BG it was simpler ), monsters that you'll remember for a long time (remember those sword spider in BG ? I have the same shivering when I see a ratkin shaman in HoS). You'll love that game !

Another couple great older ones you can get off of GOG : Master of Magic, Arcanum, Star Control (1-3), System Shock 2 (though got that one though Steam)

Nope. I've had Arcanum since release. The last game Troika released before shutting down. Probably one of the coolest steampunk games ever made. Also insanely overwhelming, at least at first.
I tried fiddling with the game maker that came with it, but it was a little too steep for me. Having no actual experience modding or map making made it pretty hard. Still, love the game.

GO FOR THE EYES BOO! GO FOR THE EYES! Damn I loved this guy !! Since the first (not like this sissy Imoen, she was getting me crazy. The French voice was a good part of the hate I had for her...)

Err, no offense Cory. I know I'm digging up an old thread here for the wrong reasons, but I just wanted to say I still own the 'Gold Box' games, with boxes, on C64 5 1/4" floppies! With the Adventurers Journal, which you were instructed to read at certain points so they didn't hog the memory of the humble 8 bit with story text :-D I even still own my hand drawn 16x16 maps, on graph paper, of every town and dungeon across Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, and Secret of the Silver Blades :-)

I was a regular contributor to game websites related to BG and I think I may have set the record with a BG 2 solo character game that only took around 8 in game days to complete. In Ice Wind Dale the cleric/druid could be basically unstoppable.
Back to ST though. Is there a more recent version of this list or the manual? The game is up to version 5.6.11 but I can't find anything more recent and the manual seems out of date as well.
