To check to make sure the update is valid and that there is a license.

Maybe it's greedy of us -- I don't know. Templars was getting a lot of "refund without uninstalls" which was possible because the game didn't integrate with Google Play. We asked Google about the issue and they recommended we use the same approach as ST.

So we updated Templars so it works just like Star Traders RPG -- once per version it connects to Google Play on your device and captures a download token.

That's fine. I had this moment of terror that I was going to need data services every time I opened the game. This would have been rough when I'm working in Latin America. I have an expensive pay app that I've paid for and still have to pirate to use because of this sort of thing, and it sucks. Once per version seems fine.

@lt Hathaway - we wouldn't do that to you. That also sounds like it would require new app permissions, and we also wouldn't do that to you! Sorry the update text seemed nebulous, but its basically licensing and helps insure that our customers have to pay to get Elite!

Cory, perhaps you could change the text to 'checking for Google Play license, a data connection is not required', just for clarification so people don't panic.

You could also do this for ST.

I've made a brand new squad and I've gotten another veteran with scout armor.

There are two campaigns named "Vestmarch Siege Begins". Also
"Skirmish Campaigns for All Squads" - what does it mean? I don't see any new "skirmish" levels.

janek - we have just done a major conversion of a lot of skirmish levels to campaigns. Evidently a few of the labels and titles fell through the cracks. We will clean these up!
