Hi guys, I tried playing this game as military captain, but it is not working for me. I checked the guide of Cory, but I don't know what I am doing wrong. Trying to do mission for multiple factions, but it does not earn really money. It costs me more money to do the missions, then I earn for it. I think you can earn much easier money as explorer by selling the artifacts you find at planets. I really need some tips as playing as military captain? Some good tips about, how to make money, reputation, important skills and grow in the game, because atm it is not working... Thx for the help!

Lets get some information:
- Profession: Military Officer - Difficulty Level: - Faction:
If you read the forums you will find a number of advanced players discussing and advocating really complex or difficult strategies. Please do not worry about that and consider your early Captains as tests =)
When you are first playing Military Officer you should focus on one Faction. The better your reputation, the more you are paid. A Military Officer of the Cadar ONLY works for Cadar, fears no other Faction and takes what he needs from anyone who isn't Cadar.
Avoid dealing with, buying from or taking missions from any other Faction. Those people are losers anyway. Cadar gives you better deals, less trouble and we love the taste of Water-Fuel from Cadar Prime.
I take: Pilot, Tactics, Intimidation, Warrior and if I'm fighting I don't stay at long range -- I move in for the kill.

If you plan to blockade a lot, don't make a torpedo boat. You're going to be fighting in orbit, so you want to close fast and use your guns. Build up engines and pilot skill. I'm not a big fan of boarding, so I like bulkheads to keep boarders off of my ship while I whittle away at the engines.
Consider not chapping everyone else, at least not until you've got the upgrades you want on the ship you want to stick with for the long haul. Don't take missions against your faction, but consider the bigger picture: You don't want Thulun warships harassing you when you're trying to make a beeline to that Steel Song world you want to blockade. Plus, it's not bad to be able to unload confiscated goods and refit on worlds that are allied with your faction. Besides, the winds of fate are fickle and Cadar's enemies today may be it's allies tomorrow.
"Hey, sorry I had to blockade your world and shoot down every merchant in the sector. Would you like to buy some of the vudka I confiscated? All sales benefit the Cadar Scouts!"

I have played a lot as millitary officer so listen to me you noob - first skill points I suggest to put in pilot/stealtch - your strength is in bording, but you need to be faster than your enemy to dont let him run away - you could play as friend of everyone - playing without its a bit boring becouse you cant take many contracts (assassin/bounty from palace/stardocks) - choose is your (thats why i love this game ) all you need is to be a delivery boy for sometime and buying deatch warrant/trade permits and rank 1 (it will protect you from search by occasionally millitary ships on patrols) - after that you can go fight an slowly advance by contracts - on crazy or harder lvls you could try to be good for anyone - juts to time when you get good ship - on crazy or harder lvls dont try to take assassin/bounty/blocade/surveillance missions on begining - try only take messages or passangers - its becouse they dont pay much for contract and repairs are expensive and your worst enemy is poverty (in other topic i write what to do as millitary officer - but you need to search) - when you are on Vea Victus all upgrades put in speed as fast as possible - with that you could faster steal enemy better ships - on crazy or harder lvls cache as much water-fuel as you can - big crews use it a lot, and when your's sails will be damaged - you will need it

I'd like to see Vudka be used as emergency water/fuel, and not just because my kids are wearing the blue & gold. Maybe that's more of a pirate captain thing than a military officer thing.

I love this idea as a special skill for Pirates, Smugglers and Spies.
"use Vodka as luxury rations" =)

I'd still like some control, maybe through the First Mate, as to which resource we're burning as fuel.
Explorers should be able to eat plants.
