Hmmm. I just discovered that my last update didn't go through to completion for some reason. And I didn't notice. Which means that of course things weren't updated. So I will have to start again, but I think I owe Fallen a big apology.

Mallor True (remembering when fighting Whitey) s/When you spending/When you are spending/ s/You bonus can be increated/Your bonus can be increased/ (note 2 errors!) s/When you spending/When you are spending/ (so yes you have done this twice)
Add 'rounded down' to your sentence on what AP are.
--------------------
I think this is a horrible place to put this information -- about the worst place you could have chosen. It is completely useless -- you cannot do a damn thing about your AP and initiative in the middle of a fight.
It belongs in the 'Mallor, how do I prepare for a fight' section. He's already told you that you need to get a good night's sleep. (or does he say that before your second fight? I forget. checking .... yes he does.) That speech you get when you come back that mentions rest up and get what you need and then come back and see me -- that would be another good place to put the AP talk. Or a third good choice would be when you return from the fight to have a completely new button.
Mallor, I am not entirely pleased with how that fight went.
I didn't always have the initiative on Whitey, and I had very few Action Points to spend. How can I improve?
)
Then have him tell you that when you sleep you can allocate your earned XP. And that one thing that you need to consider is your AP total.
Explain what AP is, and the equation. Do this _before_ you talk about initiative.
and then say that the other reason that AP are important is that they have an effect on your initiative when you fight. And then give the initiative formula, as the second one.
And then conclude with -- so to increase the total of AP you have, which will also have the happy side-effect of raising your initiative -- you need to increase your dexterity, intelligence and perception. For every 2 points that you increase, you will earn one more AP.
(Doesn't hurt to tell them that, and helps the people whose eyes glaze over whenever they see an equation.)
Then the player can have a nap, use this bit of wisdom, and then not have to worry about the whole thing when it is fighting time. Because then it is just needless distraction. The best way to teach somebody something is to give them information they can use right before you expect them to use it. The worst way to teach somebody is to give them a chunk of information they cannot use in the middle of something that is trying to teach them something else altogether, which already occupies their minds.
--------------
If you don't take this information out and stick it someplace more reasonable, then you will need to say something other than
'So what kind of actions would you take?'
because by the time this screen shows up, the sense of 'taking actions in combat' is completely lost. You mind has left combat and is full of XP allocation thoughts. So much so that you need a: 'But back to combat.' or something to lead into this screen.
But it is better to fix this problem by moving the XP allocation talk someplace else than to add this to the first fighting talk.

grävling - no apology needed. Thanks for all the typo help. How did I possibly choose =the worst possible place= to put the AP information? He could have told you when he was saying goodbye! I will work on restructuring more of the dialog, some times a "point fix" ends up saving time but leading to something less worthy

You could just respond to my first question with the data on AP and initiative, totally ignoring my question. (Another example of a BAD place.)

Swami - here are the equations! I just popped them out of the help file. Hope this helps!!! Action Point Pool = (Dexterity + Intelligence + Perception) / 2 + 3 Initiative = D10 + Action Points + Initiative Bonus I added them to the story dialog due to an RFE from a while ago.

So you could find out and then use it.

fallen Thanks for the equations, but I was talking about in game convo, the worst place to respond with those equations would be when I introduce myself(totally ignoring "You must be Mallor True") I think you did the perfect thing adding them to the story, and I am sure with you and grävling working on it, you will find the right place to put the data in conversations. Regarding working on grammar, is there a whole file where the conversations are that you can forward for editing(as opposed to grabbing them from the in-game conversation)? I am interested in helping but I can't work well with the in-line text.
