Sorry, I was thinking with my Spock hat on when I used that "I" word. I'm beginning to notice a pattern for when the firing arc is impaired. Often it is because some wall is beside the enemy or the knight. Both are still in clear LOS of eachother, but the wall seems to act as though it extends virtually by one extra square. I guess the good news is that the Xeno or Templar won't fire back at you from that position either

Yeah, I think it's just the LOS equation is casting shadows off the center line (old firing solution) instead of working one tile at a time. Will try to fix it without slowing down old devices too much.

So I'm making the move to TA. Had enough fun with ST for awhile. The first issue I ran into was trying to figure out who could fire and when. In this screenshot (this was during the defensive phase), neither of my Templars to the right or left of the captain could fire on the alien. Both of them had range 3 guns. I wasn't sure if I was not understanding the rules or if this is a bug. My version is 1.3.1 Attachments:

Two forward, one over, as shown above, never works that I can see, even in open spaces.

In fully open spaces, 2 ahead, one across does work. If there is any wall beside you or the alien, it interferes with line of sight. Have NO idea how that happens, and it is definitely a bug. The wall effect impact on pretty much any range except 1 ahead.

It's probably a collection of bugs in the target engine.

I can confirm that in certain situations 2 ahead and 1 over does work. I did it today. I just don't remember where the walls were.
Unfortunately I bought the game off of Amazon because I had some left-over credit from a gift card. I didn't realize that updates were much slower coming out of there. I hate to be posting bug reports on older versions.
