one of the things I like to do is to make 2 identical runners, give them slightly different gear, and then see if one is performing significantly better than the other. But if somebody asked me what is the best automatic rifle to get, well, I would have to say that I simply do not know.

Don't really like the AK-MiG the AP5 doesn't really make up for its lower power, shorter range and smaller ammo capacity.

The other two are sort of a toss up.
The APX 59 gets a clear edge in its ability to punch through armor so that's a nice point in its favor.
The MX Defender gives the slightly better accuracy and much larger ammo capacity so...
Of course with the high AP for all of them you'll probably have fairly good Gun skill by the time they are reasonably to use so a point of accuracy one way or the other isn't as big a factor as earlier in the game.
Range of 5 isn't really sufficient in my opinion to qualify for sniper use. Arming another sort of runner with an Assault rifle would make more sense giving them some extra punch before range gets to close.

I prefer the HPX 59 especially when dealing with drones. I also would like to see runners and allies be able to use the heavier weapons. From what I have gathered from the forums is Cory and the gang will allow them in the future when the game has bigger enemies like tanks and all the other mean and nasty things. My runners wanna kill. I mean kill! Kill! KILL! KILL! Just jumping up and down yelling kill! KILL! KILL!
