I've just hit enemy ship with torpedo. They lost some crew, sails, but I also damaged the hull without any harm on armor (still 4/4). Guess it shouldn't happen?

That is possible, there is a chance that happens -- probably the condition where
(armor * 2 < hull)
then the armor coverage is not completed -- it has weak spots. torps (not guns) are good at hitting weak spots.
