Thought #412.6 for the day. Could there be an option in the "settings" menu that allows you to have randomized "Wild" stats on a planet. That is, the Planet hazard, explore, harvest, and cache stats. That means, each new game, you are forced to explore new worlds rather than just go back to those you know have good explore options, etc.
Thought #412.61 adds the option of adding "wild" areas for planets scattered throughout the quadrant on a variable basis (randomized at the start of each game), as there are plenty of planets on the map. It would be nice to have the opportunity to explore different ones each new game.
This is a more limited version of thought #412.5, where I would love the whole random galaxy, each new game (because you get to explore whole new areas of space), but that will be significantly more difficult to implement, AND probably break some laws of astro physics whereby stars should not suddenly change positions space.

+1. Keep the general position and relationship of Faction home planets the same, but mix up the Wild planets and maybe the Independents, maybe also the mining bases etc.
Also, experienced players may know the difficulty levels of Wilds off by heart. For those who don't, or if they are randomised per this suggestion, could there be (is there already?) a way to review Wilds difficulty levels of a previously-explored planet, before trucking all the way to the planet?

Getting partial planet stats from Rumors would be pretty cool. You should be able to see any ratings found this way on the zoom map when you long press a planet.
"Hey spacer, Herculon is a radioactive world. (9) Wear your lead underwear if you're prospecting there." "Pass the plate, junkie. Leaving it with you is foolish (1) like leaving a cache on Snagglepuss Jungles."
I can't remember the real names of any wild worlds to save my life...and so I fall back on Saturday Morning Cartoons...

I'd love partial stats with the Dark Age Tech, Resource Rush, and Treasure Hunter rumors.
They could follow "Navigation reports . . .". For example, a DAT rumor could end with something like "Scout reports that Metropolis of the Dead is a vast Ancient City (24) and a Radioactive Magma World (25)."
Perhaps only for planets I've visited before? Or not. Or an option to turn them on/off? I could go either way on this part.
Don't need stats for the negative Wild Zone rumors (drought, syndicate sponsored operations, aliens), since I'll avoid it no matter what the stats are.

Also, for Treasure Hunter rumors, it would be nice if the rumor said something like "hey dummy, you've got a cache there! Get your butt over there right now!" or something to that affect like "According to the Ship's Log, you have (or do NOT have) a cache on Metropolis of the Dead."
This feature might have to wait until a cache's location is recorded in the Ship's Log.

I don't think rumors ought to bring up cache alerts unless you've got a Smuggler/Scout officer.
I'm big on the idea of officers providing reports.

oldalchemist -- seriously I have started working on officer reports. I hope you can appreciate that I have noted your request. Officer reports are NOT easy because they require parsing the game state database and tap objects into something readable, topical and actionable for the player. If the officer pukes out a spreadsheet of floating point numbers you will be like "these reports are stupid."

slayernz -- at this time ST: RPG map randomization is impossible due to the nature of the database. spike -- the ability to see those values does make sense, like the explorer version of the resource reports oldalchemist -- that would be a great place to put some of the hidden statistics like richness! oldalchemist/ ehkamp -- I really like the idea of putting more information into the rumors and world views. ehkamp -- Working on this request now.

Awesome!
How about making the quality of the officer affect the quality of the report? Low level mechanical officers might be able to tell you about hull quality, mid level can give you hull and sail and engines, and high level can give you the works.
