I've got a shiny almost-new Nexus 7 and wanted to know if there was any way to import my current squads over to it? In ST, there is the great cloud-backup. For TA, is there something like that?

Not yet, no.
We're debating using Cloud Backup vs. a "TB Hub" application. TB Hub applications would contain permissions and have rights to interact with the other games, letting you extract a TA saved game set from TA with TB Hub and write it to SD card.

2 things .. 1) what is easier to do? Create a new app that has the ability to pull/restore game data across more than just TA (think any TB game) ... or enable cloud backup using the knowledge gained from implementing it in ST 2) what would be the most convenient experience for users .. cloud-backing up your squad from within the game, or exiting the game to open up another app for the import/export
If the TB Hub can manage all TB Games and is relatively painless to use, then that might be the way to go. If you add the fact that you have to exit a game to export, that is something else to consider.
Did I just repeat myself in that last paragraph?

I can't think of any reason you couldn't use Titanium Backup to back up the game with data, then email the backup to your new device, then 'restore' to your new device. Should work fine with the free version of TiB, with the Play version of TA, I won't speculate about Amazon.
Do let me know!

You gotta root your phone to use that though right? I haven't figured out how to do that ...

Yeah, there is that. Looks easy enough for the Nexus 7, there's an XDA "Google Nexus 7 Toolkit."
Hmm, no sd card if I recall. I'll sleep on it, nothing else is coming to mind.

We are still planning on building comprehensive support for data backup and import/export without adding a bunch of yucky permissions to the games.
We have some work to do in this area.
