Strange, the crash reports were definately sent. Maybe google discarded them as I'm running on a rooted Desire with Gingerbread (2.3.3)
I'll see if I can capture the crashes with another program.

ok, I've got the log Crashed when I returned to the space map from an urban planet and I tried to scroll the map and 'boom' crash. Report sent to google and I've captured the log too. I'll email it to you in a zip file

gandalf I hate to admit it but this error is not new to the v3.5.0 release. It has existed for a long time and keeping the waypoints around is consuming more memory. The game's code uses a (poorly designed) system to balance the memory and CPU needs of the "game simulator" and the player's UI ... it seems that in v3.5.0 that balance is out of sync and needs additional adjustments. I'm working on your crash report now, thank you.

I want to be the first to officially say:
"Vendetta Online is Better than Star Traders RPG"
When everyone else posts that, just respond "Cory said that already."

I still have the website in my favourites. I just had a look and they are still going!

Memory management seems a likely cause. I uploaded one more crash report. I would say it tends to happen at the transition between Encounter and Space or between Planet and Space. My phone has only about 23MB of spare memory even after killing everything else off, so maybe I'm a canary for potential memory problems.
Also I'm not usually connected to the internet when I play (I'm roaming outside my provider's base area) so I can't usually upload a report. I'll try and remain online when possible.

re Vendetta Online - Good or not, there's no way I am going to carry a realtime MMO in my back pocket. Much too dangerous! If EVE wasn't blocked at work I would've been fired long ago! So for play-anywhere, turn based SF RPG, Star Traders rulz!

oldalchemist -- ah, option coding paying off. happy dev day. spike -- you have a nice phone too, and you're right, it's memory management so begins another "Bitmap Inquisition"

Hi there, new guy here. First off, wanted to say that I fell in love with the game, played the trial version for about a week then decided to buy the Elite version last night. Keep up the damn good work!
Secondly, I'm running the game on a HTC Inspire. It runs great, no issues or crashes or anything.
I really have nothing of value to add to the discussion here, unfortunately. Once I have more experience with the game(and don't have to restart so much due to really bad decisions or uncertainty of what to do next), I'll let you know.

spike -- I think the newest version will have just what your phone needs. Obviously, won't know for sure until after you play and report ... but I have high hopes. As a side-effect of gutting my old memory manager we also squeezed another 15% out of the main map =)

In regards to Vendetta Online, I personally would prefer Star Traders RPG. I'm not a "twitch" PVP player, I prefer to think my plans out. ST is portable on all Android devices. VO is trying to go to Android but for tablets only. Plus I bet there is no permadeath as there is for ST. That would mean the worst that likely happens to a player is they lose money on death but likely keep skills. That means higher risk taking compared to what happens in ST. I'll stick with ST, at least until Secrets of Steel comes out.

About the pirates again... Today I won a battle with Javat pirates and lost rank with this faction. Is it right or not?

cynik I play this game like crazy -- hours a day somedays -- and I'm pretty happy with how the pirates are working right now. I think it balances Captain skill, reputation, conflict zone and rank level pretty well. If you are reporting some specific case (like, you lost the last rank, down to zero) or you lost a rank in the early part of the game (before turn 550) or you really feel like it was a bug, please start a thread and I'll investigate. I think the Privateer rules are correct at this time. I feel more strongly about them now than I did before, but they may still have some rough edges. From a design standpoint I will state this -- ST RPG avoids "action without consequence" or "action without reaction" mechanics. 'The actions we choose today echo in eternity'
