Hello, Everyone! I've been playing for a few weeks, and lurking here for a few days. This is my first post, however, so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and say hi =)
Now then, I unlocked the Picky Beggar last night, and since then have played seven or eight rapid games. It is not unusual for me to see ten captains dead for every one that makes it through to level 20 or so. Needless to say, I've got a rather reckless play style.
With the Picky Beggar, however, I find myself presented with the option to continue for the first time. (I haven't unlocked escape pods yet). The first couple of captains I played through to escape I just discarded - exited to the main menu and had another go from scratch. This morning, I realized that the escape shuttle is FAST/QUICK without being a fuel hog... so I started running really long contracts 30 and 40 AU to objective for excellent pay out. I had enough for a flagship in no time, though I hadn't amassed the rank yet.
Anyway, it was fun running around with so little between my character and the void! The upgrades I chose were:
Structural: Cargo Prow
Combat: Leviathan System
Interior: External Crew Pods
Propulsion: Nano-Solar Sail Coating
Armament: Hyperion Super Structure
All in all, these made my escape pod into a ruthless little pirate sloop! If you were going to cruise the galaxy in your escape pod, how would you outfit it?
