Okay just lost a Berserker post mission. Playing on Brutal, Berserker was showing two bars on health so I accepted victory. Was last level of Spear Cutter campaign. Rather annoyed to find the Berserker listed as Fallen when I selected next campaign.
If the bars don't tell you exactly how much health you have left it makes it very hard to figure out how badly hurt your Templars are. In this instance I would have played the level over again if I'd known the Berserker only had 1 health left.

xdesperado - sorry that you lost the extra soldier. This is a bug and is not the intention of Brutal difficulty. The health bars show the integer, absolute value of your health (there is nothing hidden from you). The bug (#TA-1072) reads: "Templar died with 2 health after a level end on Brutal difficulty -- should not have died." Thanks for the report!

Just wanted to stop in and let you know that I tested this and had the same thing happen. First mission of the Moons campaign and let one poor trooper get beat on. 2 HP at the end of the mission, and he is now listed as "fallen."

I've never actually accepted a death - I always retry the mission, even if it's the 6th run through. As such, I've never seen a dead knight ... funny how it shows "Fallen" as the dead knight though. Sounds better than "Slayer'd" tho

Haha. I find it fun to accept the losses. Makes me try out new things and think in new ways. I'll accept any and all losses, but sometimes it makes me write off squads as untenable.

Sounds better than "Slayer'd" tho I don't normally accept dead Templars either which is why I was unhappy when my Berserker died post battle with 2 health left. Luckily it was my less experienced one and my Hydra and second string scout picked up the slack okay. Losing the armor, shield and weapon hurt worse initially. Completed another campaign (Rough Landing) and just recruited a second Berserker and fully kitted her out to start the Familiar Ground campaign.

xdesperado - glad it didn't slow you down! This won't be fixed in the next release, but I will make sure it gets in for the one after.

fallen Since I started with the Rapid Deployment Templar Battleforce and did a little grinding before starting on campaigns, I was in fairly decent shape despite the loss. A second Berserker gives some options but isn't a necessity. Actually planning to add a third Berserker soon and seeing if I can go all melee through a few battles.

I have fixed #TA-1072 - the bug where a 2 HP Templar was dying at the end of the level. This was a display bug in which all Templars were being shown with 1 more HP than they really had! Ouch, TA just got harder

Haha, great! It should make the game that much more frustrating (in a good way) when playing on Brutal.
