I have seen a bug that potentially affects gameplay:
On my HTC Hero, the screen will change from portrait to landscape when I turn the phone sideways and vice-versa. This resets what I have on the page, things I sold on the Exchange screen get unsold, etc.
If I do this in the middle of a space combat, even if one side has already 'died' (ie, hull breach, no engines, etc) but not yet departed combat, I restart the fight from scratch.
It's player-death-preventive, contract-escape-preventive, etc. I think it needs to be looked at else it's a big loophole against being killed

I have seen this 'reset' behaviour once or twice as well, just recently (latest version). HTC Magic. I didn't notice whether it was connected with orientation change. But I don't use orientation lock, so it's possible.

jeffjway -- Thanks, I was able to verify that the Android state system is back to default behavior for the orientation change. spike -- there will always be ways to mess with an Android application. the orientation issue is introduced in v3.5.x related to the new options. If you have an Android Debugger, Task Killer, Task Manager or a rooted phone there is little ST RPG can do to protect itself from state deletes, process kills. The game's primary goal is "do not crash" and if the choice is "Crash" or "Start Combat Over" then the game choose to Star Combat Over. That's a design choice I made -- maybe one that won't sit well. However, I am the front (and only) line of support for the players and as a result, I will always default to the "Do Not Crash" rule.
