I noticed that in the descriptions of the syndicates and houses, there are some that have a written conflict against another group. That is... it seems they should be at war. For instance, Cadar and De Valtos are opposed.
My comment here is... I haven't noticed this playing into the game. It would make sense if say... you flew a Cadar ship, you get bad prices at De Valtos.
Or... say two groups are in Solar War, if your ship flies under the banner of one, then you become a target.
Of course, this is complicated by reputation. But perhaps there should be limits raising reputation among opposing factions. I usually end up with with having hero status with all 6 factions, all the death warrants, all the trade warrants, etc... while I suppose it is theoretically possible, it seems a bit overpowering that way.
Like maybe in any given load of the game, there are a couple houses in perma-war...
(or maybe options like this can be toggled?)
(Anyway, hope it's okay that I'm offering random ideas. I like the game already. and am sure you have plenty of things planned).

The game doesn't use the same static set of conflicts, we found during testing that this limited the ability for players to shift sides and play one side against the other.
Therefore, Cadar and De Valtos are not constantly at war but they are more likely to form certain types of conflicts and those conflicts (or example) may last longer than average.
This also drives the behaviors of economies in areas of the game -- for example, Trade Wars increase shortages, shortages increase prices. So if an area is owned by Factions likely to have Trade Wars, that area is, over the long run, likely to have more shortages.
Areas that are plagued by shortages are an excellent place to stockpile a Cache.

Regarding perma-war we found that it didn't increase the overall fun of the game, but we may look at re-introducing that feature set.
A concept in development known as "Eras" is more likely, however. Eras would represent longer term periods of overall diplomatic events -- a "Time of Strife" which increases the duration, count and ferocity of Wars, for example.

Point noted regarding the gap between Reputation and Conflict. I suspect that the Hostility Meter needs to be adjusted to take that into account. Thanks!

I think I gotcha. I did notice certain tendencies. Maybe I need to pay closer attention. I like the "era" idea.
