Hi Cory
I'm getting 'unknown reason -18' when trying to install this update, it also mentions something about APPNAME in the notifications bar when it fails.
Running on HTC Legend, stock Froyo.

Here is something another person running a non-carrier ROM fixed error 18. Not sure if it applies to a stock Android:

I thought you might be curious as to how I solved the problem with "Error: Unknown - 18" keeping me from installing and updating apps that are on the SD card. Here goes.
1. There's a folder on your SD card called ".android_secure". From what I could tell, this is where the OS dumps all the necessary parts of the apps that you move from the phone.. it works like an overflow.
2. There is (should be?) a file on it called smdl2tmp1.asec. I have NO idea what purpose it serves, but I can only assume that it corrupted; if you Google the original error message or even that file's name you'll see several references to it, and removing it via the terminal emulator or via mounting (my preferred method so I can see what I'm doing). I had to wait this long as I figured out this much while I was on vacation.
3. Delete that file.

Hi Cory, Running stock Froyo and not being a modder I am unfamiliar with the file structure of Android, I have however used Astro file viewer to navigate to sdcard/.android_secure only to find the folder empty, it could be that Astro doesn't show system files. I have only tried using WiFi so far, I might go out and try 3G to see if the carrier type makes.any difference. Many thanks for any further suggestions, I'm having withdrawal symptoms from STRPG already  Daz |

Unmounting the SD card (in phone settings) before updating is what worked around that error for me.

Hi Cory,
Just a quick note to say that I've managed to install the latest update. Trying the install over 3G didn't make a difference (didn't think it would tbh) but copying the app from SD back to my phone and then retrying the update seemed to work. It's appears that either that my SD card is screwed or something to do with SD card permissions wasn't working in the update.

I absolutely love the Status button in combat. It keeps me from double guessing myself. Now I can sack the correct smugglers and merchants with no problem. I also like the implications of the Ignore button. I imagine my ship lazily turning away from my opponent while sending them a message of "You're not worthy of my missiles."
