I just love the label of that battle "Howie vs. Aliens" ... that's a movie title if ever I saw one

This is an old thread, I'll give it a bump with an epic picture that says it all. Carnifex vs. Heela alien 351% my level. And the winner is...."Carnifex!"

I have nothing useful to add, I just wanted to point out for those that might not know, that the Carnifex is named after a gianormous alien walking tank of doom in the table-top wargame Warhammer 40,000. They belong to the Tyranids, a species inspired by both the Alien film series and the bug aliens from Starship Troopers. Oh, and the Zerg from StarCraft, though I believe that was actually the other way around. I'm not positive.
Anyway, thought I might share that. I'm sure you guys knew already, but my inner nerd couldn't help.

So to find the best ships what do you need to look at for a planet? Security? Exchange?
Btw... I know somewhere there's an explanation about what those planet values mean, but I really can't find it. I feel it would be a useful thing to know since I'm playing on Insane and I really don't wanna risk going into too much red sections just to land on a lifeless planet.

ChocoCrowbar I don't know what the values mean I just know what planets have good ship markets and good prices. Here's a list in the order that I think is best. Syndicate Core -tons of ships and good prices De Valtos Prime-Thulun Prime All the Steel Song planets in the Elite edition (Most of the Slayernz Cruisers and half of my Carnifex have been found at Xenox) Galantia (Thulun planet east of Xenox) Cadar Prime - Javat Prime Bottom right Javat planets (both have good selection, but one has high prices, can't remember which) Rychart Prime -Steel Song planets on original map - Rychart planet in the middle of the map (Small selections, decent prices and occasionally great ships) Butakov - Valtos Marquiss (Small selection but high chance of good ships, decent prices) Edit: I didn't include any Indy planets, thought there are a few that have lots of ships and good prices, because they never seem to have the best ships (though some are still very good). Also in my current (long neglected) game I also found a Carnifex at the top right Javat planet (the one that never has and WF). I almost never look at ships there, so the fact that I found a Carnifex might mean that it is also a good place to shop. Don't remember what the price was. It still take a a lot of hunting to find one normally.

contributor Thanks! It seems to me that most of those planets you listed have a high Security rating, and I'm willing to bet that a high Economy brings down the ship prices, since the bottom right Javat planets you mentioned both have a Security >10, but only on has a low Economy.

I'm going to bury my head in the sand and tell myself it was purely coincidental - Cory would never be so cruel as to make my named ship prevalent to Steel Song ... thats what i would do i don't like steel song as much as de valtos or javat but i do know who i hate...

Ok i just found a carnifex cruiser 225 crew and 40 guns. It's too bad i can't buy it But my finrir dart will do just fine. Is it weird that the carnifex uses 0.00 in the green and 0.48 in the red? You know what i'm going to buy it. Hey they disappeared! Well at least i found another one which I did buy. My finrir dart uses 0.00 when blockading!

AA : your intimidate skill is lowering down your w-f consumption (I think there's another skill but I'm not sure) and you can read the effect on the ship record sheet. Maybe that's why your w-f is at 0.00 for both ship.
