And so the journey ends. Captain Metalbeard met up a Narvidian Hive buddy but negotiations turned sour and a fight broke out. Unfortunately the Alien was 49 levels above Metalbeard, so you can guess what happened. Oh well, it was very fun and challenging run. Will probably take a break for now. I've posted my score in the other thread. Good luck to everyone else still in the race! Attachments:

80 engines, 100 solar sails, 1000 crew.... You can't capture them, by any chance, can you?
Nice stats, by the way!

This is a total non-sequitor, but I just wanted to toss in my two cents on a good pirate ship. Well, it's not a pirate ship per se, but it's easy to get and you can easily take it from some poor sap. The Vegas Class is an awesome ship, fast/quick and when upgraded with some decent firepower upgrades (such as extended gun decks) you can easily use it as a gunbunny ship.
BTW, really nice score athios. I think you'll probably take it, but I'm going to keep trying to get something more than that!

It isn't a Pirate ship, though, right? I think you're saying that its a good ship for Pirates.
Might be mistaken.

athios, well played. It looks like you've got the score to beat. I soooo wish I was still I'm the running. You even got close to gettimg that hive's engines down to zero. As for negotiating with Narvidians, don't get your hopes up. Rychart once, um... came into posssession of something very precious to them, and have at times been able to use its existence to call on the Narvidians to take care of some of their problems, such as eliminating certain pirates who get a little too big for the quadrant.

Thanks for the compliments guys! contributorYeah, all the engine damage to them was from the first boarding action, then it never moved again after that. I think my crew died out after about 4 turns. I did manage to get a couple hits to their captain but it wasn't enough. Ahhh... so that's their trick! It's no coincidence that I encountered the Alien in Rychart territory then! (Seriously!)

It isn't a Pirate ship, though, right? I think you're saying that its a good ship for Pirates. Might be mistaken. Yeah, sorry, it's not a real pirate ship, just a ship that is easily found and captured. I tend to see lots and lots of level 1 bounty hunters flying around in it in green space, so I can usually find and board one within the first 200 turns or so.

@whitegauntlet, you know the challenge is to turn 10,000 right? Dread Pirate Bananapants failed miserably. Turns 1351 Level 10 Credits 100k Looted 43 times. This gives Bananapants a grand total of 53 points. Post-game commentary. I had a number of trade embargoes early on that caused me to get -RP with too many factions. I got many encounters before I could build my captain's skills up, and as a result, kept getting knocked back. Not being able to buy a new craft was probably the biggest showstopper. I couldn't get a decent ship, and was still battling away on the Vae Victus when I died. For the record, it was death in combat with the Vae vs a Jango class ship (very very nice ship for piracy). I was out-gunned, out engined, and out-matched. 10 wounds later and the Vae survived, but I did not. I have reverted back to Dread Pirate Bluebeard but even though it's much easier, I haven't had time to invest in building him up. He's only around turn 2000 or so, so is a mere infant in the competition.

Well I think John McClane jr's score will stand, although I'm going to give it a good college try and see if I can't top it. However, since it's Monday over here and I'm working a double shift I'll have limited time to try and get a better score. Looks like I'll have to be happy with my score of 210, not that it's too bad! So, this challenge was an amazing amount of fun and I think we should make it a monthly thing. Who wants to try to design the next challenge? I'm thinking it should be something a little less combat based, since this challenge was decidedly shooty. Maybe spying or trading? Or possibly exploration based? Hell, maybe even a faction loyalty challenge? I'm open to anything, and even have a couple ideas of my own! Really great work lurker, fun challenge that made me pay very, very close attention to ST over the past week. Usually ST gets the least play time out of the three TB games for me, but this week it definitely took top honors! Exalted you for your idea!

Anyone else out there got a sleeper captain out there still progressing on the challenge? I haven't heard from fallen yet? Otherwise it looks like athios is going to walk away with it at a score of 521. johndramey, glad you had fun. I really enjoyed it too, though I'm still very upset about that Narvidian. This might actually reignite my passion to go out and burn as many aliens as I can find. But moving on.... Thanks everyone for playing and making this a fun little time. P.S. I nominate slayernz to organize the next Community Challenge. If anyone else is really eager to do it, speak up now.

Yeah you know I'll do it so unless someone else really wants to set up a challenge, next one will be starting 10 June - 17 June ... challenge details TBD. Actually, as an alternative, someone could set up a CK challenge to give ole ST a break?

So did we figure out the final scores for everyone? I'd be interested in seeing the results and would be willing to compile a list if we have everyone's final scores posted.
