As I play a game of ST, I go through a lot of "temp" names because, let's face it, I'm trying different strategies and lots of my fodder dies horribly, messily, and across several AU worth of space.
HOWEVER, every now and then, one breaks through the barrier that is rookiedom, and I would love to be able to change his or her name to something more meaningful than "Fodder 152"
So ... enhancement request - please let me be able to change the captain's name in-game.

LOL... You could've just set whatever is supposed to be his proper name as the Default Captain Name so you don't have to type it everytime you start over. |

I used to use the nomenclature "difficulty + alphabetical name" ... so I had Crazy Adam, Crazy Bruce, Crazy Carl, Crazy Dave, etc But when I went to Impossible, I ran out of names so just went to "Fodder 1", "Fodder 2", etc. Once a captain succeeds, I'm stuck with the generic name. So I've got Crazy Eric doing well, and Fodder 19 having a lot of fun. I'd rather change Fodder 19 to something real  Oh, and I don't want to just use the same name over and over or otherwise I'll forget which captain is on what particular path/objective ... I have about half a dozen games going at any one time <sigh> that just sounds sad |

Ah, I meant have a default (e.g. Crazy Pirate) then append a name or number for each start. I guess it wouldn't work that well if you change strategies/profession every time...

Yeah - and it's not so cool to stroll into a spice bar and go "I'm Captain Crazy Pirate, you may have heard of me?". Dread Pirate Roberts is okay as a repeated name, but Dread Pirate Crazy Pirate, not so much.

We can reregister our ship's name at a Military Base, seems logical that we could change the captain's name at a Palace, where all things official (permit, edict, rank) take place.

Even willing to pay a "donation" towards the faction prince to help facilitate a name change. In that case, it could even have an impact on those death warrants that may have been looming over your head ...
