This idea may be more for CK2, but I was wondering if it would be possible to (semi?) permanently join a faction and gain benefits and penalties associated with it. I was thinking something like a tattoo or a badge (or a large neon sign) or some kind of indicator that tells others that you are affiliated with a certain faction.
Positive benefits would include:
- more pay from jobs given by that faction (~10%?)
- prices for items/weapons/armor cheaper (~10%?)
- rep increases faster with that faction
- rep decreases slower with that faction
- less negative (and/or more positive) encounters in affiliated faction space
Negative penalties would include:
- less pay from jobs given by other factions (~10%?)
- prices for items/weapons/armor more expensive (~10%?)
- rep increases slower with other factions
- rep decreases faster with other factions
- more negative (and/or less positive) encounters in non-affiliated faction space
If your faction is allied with another faction, you can receive partial benefits (by 50%? 2x?), but if it's enemies with another faction, the penalty increases (by 50%? 2x?).
This options, I believe, should only be available for mid to higher leveled characters who are 100% SURE that they want to join that faction. You could make sure of this by making it into a special mission (kill the lieutenants from all the other factions) and/or by achieving certain stats (must have X amount of positive rep for faction you want to join AND Y amount of negative rep for all other factions).
