I played the Moons campaign to find out about the speed of scouts then aborted out because I wanted to kill some other stuff. I didn't finish the campaign (I only did the first two levels). It's marked the campaign as being defeated.
I'm guessing the marker should only come about if you've finished the campaign in its entirety rather than just one or two levels.
