The little girl from ,
now 13, is busy setting up shop in the sea of Lannakar. So far we played together a few times and discussed the game, and we found:
1) This game is a clone of Star Trader on the High Seas, but frankly, way too many repetitions. You can't just rename everything and slap on a couple graphics and call it a completely new game. Even a lot of the flavor texts are copies of each other.
2) Newbie quest impossible- All three "selectable" factions appear request an delivery to the SAME PORT (@1.1), but two out of three (Federation and republic)cannot actually do the quest because their starting zone is so far away from the Port in question.
3) You can't fix cannons. Her ship had an epic battle but now all guns are wrecked, but no ports are selling cannons. You can repair long guns but not cannons.
4) Piloting is a huge chore, especially the boat sometimes just stop @ random in the seas. She can't just set the course, then wait and do something else. Worse, it took a lot of time for us to realize this game copy the sector game style from the cyber punk game. So there is no long term guidance, you have to pilot it from sector to sector.
5) Buttons are not responsive. Especially stopping at short distances and at random at times.
6) Faction list incomplete (At least one, the Gao confederation, is not even on the rep list)
7) The spice must flow...but apparently not on Lannakar...for we cross a dozen ports large and small but no one can buy it. Same for silk. If spices and other goods have "restricted port", then you should at least black it out at ports were no one are trading.
8) Lack of a way to track prices like in Star Trader.
9) Rations appear to not take up cargo space...yet we really can't tell if it is maxxed out, or what is our max range.
10) The navigator is a idiot. If the commission is a zone away, he will tell me we are 0 day away from the target. Really? Me and my Niece took forever to figure that out. And she was not happy.
10) On the plus side, she is happy to see a female captain, and completing quest no longer take resources (never quite figure out after I complete a quest in Star Trader, my guy must immediately fly into orbit disregarding everything else)
11) Mast/Sail explaination are not clear. Also, sails break like as if they were made from Paris Hilton's panties. And the crew must be half drunk because we drive 5 square away and half of the crew die and all the sails get ripped. (This is even worse than exploring in Star Trader!)
12) Need to fix the time periods. Some quests apparently take 1/3 to 1 year to accomplish.
13) lack of magic made me sad. Apparently the only thing the socerer does is being the doctor...this game promise magic but it don't deliver.
14) Other factions police keep trying to confiscate my cannon rounds. Really?
15) The game also promise I would be able to affect world events. My niece sank 50 Reusland ships so far....no sign of any kind of economic disruption. But she ended up with a ton of spice and silk she can't sell.
16) The Mighty Kraken is actually a little boat that I destroyed with a single long cannon shit. LOLZ.
17) The biggest of the problems??? LEFT HAND NOT KNOWING WHAT RIGHT HAND IS UP TO. Ruesland offered my niece a commission to catch a pirate, and after traveling through 4 zones, sinking over 20 pirate ships and must broken over 50 sails, finally reach the port, load up her men and skills, set off to engage.....only to find out our target is also an Ruesland vessel. . But orders are orders...she open fire...the ship flees, and then we lost our trade commission for violating our oaths.
This game offer a great deal of promise, but couldn't someone beta test it first?
