First off, I've run into some problems that result from being at a high level. Tonight, I had a combat that lasted about 700 turns. We literally never hit one another, with the only damage being done through boarding, and since I usually won boarding actions only on defense, not on attack, I basically had to wait for him to try and board me (until the very end). Maybe combat could be rejiggered to speed things along when both opponents have very high Piloting and Stealth skills.
In the same vein, it's a little annoying to get the Training toast when you cannot in fact train--at the level I'm at now, if all my skills are maxed out and I can only advance a stat, I need 12 XP's, but I start getting messages at 6, and even if I can advance a skill, I need 7.
I saw your answer to how the Contractor Awards work in a thread, but could you document it? What I mean is, you're penalized for rejecting contracts (which, incidentally, really doesn't seem fair).
Finally, it seems odd that a Trade War doesn't include the effects of a Trade Embargo, and that a Solar War doesn't include both of those, as well as a Spy Battle. I realize doing this would make things even harder, but you could just reduce the frequency of all those events in order to compensate.

You can increase the training toasts in the settings. I have mine set on 50 Click, Menu, More, Options, Then down near the bottom is Experience Toast Minimum. Set accordingly.

There is an upcoming patch fix that sets a hard limit on the maximum number of turns.
However, if I start making adjustments to "get the combat over with" and then other player's Captains die as a result ... What difficulty level are you on?
It seems odd how? In my understanding of Faction political system and spy networks, it seems to be an apt simulation of the Central Database and Shalun Courts.

In v3.6.0, at the strong urging of Forum members, a major review of the Faction / Conflict / Rumor interconnection system was executed.
Trade Wars increase the chance of a Trade Embargo, but I feel that the game would be less "deep" if all Trade Wars caused a 100% Trade Embargo effect. That would be putting far too much faith in Faction mercenaries and duelists -- they may manage to turn the legal Trade War into something meaningful on a few worlds, but mostly it is a lot of paperwork, tickets and fines.

I'm on Hard, and at the time my Level was about 30 and my Piloting and Stealth were close to 30. I don't think you'd want to speed things up for everyone, just in cases where both opponents have very high scores. Ah, OK, fair enough then.
