I was pondering, while trying to patch up a relationship with a faction that I had a minor falling out with (okay, I'm at -624 RP with them). Nonetheless, I decided to turn over a new tree and play "be nice to Javat".
I noticed that Javat had a Solar War with Steel Song (okay, another reason why I wanted to be nice to Javat), so I thought I would waste a few years blockading the hell out of a Steel Song world.
I got RP bonus for every ship that I managed to have a fight with, but I didn't get any RP for doing a blockade. I would have thought that blockades fall into "Any action taken by the Captain against the opposing faction". Ergo I would like RP for successful blockades
Come to think of it, blockades should give RP for Trade Embargoes, and perhaps Trade Wars, because let's face it, blockades definitely disrupt commerce.

Agreed, I was thinking the same thing.

And what about trade war? Blockade disrupts commerce and that's what trade war is supposed to do.
Hmm... shouldn't the surveillance on factions in a solar war generate the positive rep as well? After all, spying is a hostile action. Oh, and the same goes for spy war.
However, I'm not sure that this would be fair. You would get double reputation points, one for surveillance, second for selling records.
But I agree that blockading should give both negative rep (for the one being blocked) and positive rep (for his enemy).

The act of Surveillance shouldn't create +RP with any faction because nobody knows what you are going to do with the records. In fact, there is a specific rumor that says that you can scan a faction during a spy war, then sell the records to the nation that you spied on. That will get you positive RP with that faction.

That's a Javat message broadcast by a captain who is blockading a Steel Song world.
"I'm paid to break their exchange. I break their spirits for free."
