I'm halfway(?) through the Nathaniel Sveet campaign and have about 10k silvers, so been playing for quite a while. Still haven't encountered any officers for hire yet though. I did see a rumor popup in the neighbouring sector and sailed there immediately but it was already gone by the time I arrived (sailing against wind). In the alpha it was pretty easy to get three officers, even if they aren't the officers you want, but now I feel like it's impossible in Elite.
How has everyone been doing? Which version are you playing?

Haven't seen any since Alpha, mostly playing Elite. They were disabled just after the close of Alpha. In ST, Officers equal ability sets. For example, there is a "First Mate Bonus" collection, which is used when you have the first mate. In AoP, you'll be recruiting characters, not officer slots. Instead of "First Mate" you'll have "Marcen Mendall" Mercen will give you the same "First Mate Bonus" collection, but also gives a "Naval Officer Bonus" collection. Nathaniel Sveet will be a recruit-able officer who functions like a combination of Military and Spy. Each of the AoP officers will be based on a TB interpretation of the story character's ending. For Nathaniel Sveet, in the officer version he fails to save his son and his wife jumps from the cliffs near Glencoe the next winter. He abandons Ruesland, becomes a nomadic dragoon and sells his sword to any Captain who promises rum and time away from land and memory.
