Hello All! Eilwyrn Here With A Question. Should There Be An Option Once You Are Rich ($1,000,000 At Least) And Max Rank (21) To Run A World For Your Faction? I've Sent An Email To Cory, But I Want To Hear Your Thoughts On The Matter. Please Answer The Poll To Give Me An Idea As To How Many People Think This Is A Good Idea!

The Star Traders RPG simulation engine and game format really are not designed to support "running a world for a Faction."
I honestly feel that I would be doing you, and the other players, a disservice if I tried to add this feature.
With the current state of the Star Traders RPG engine, such a feature would never be truly great.
Now, I do think that the game world and setting are both well suited for such a game, but it would need to, I believe, exist independent of ST RPG.

I Was Worried That Would Be A Problem. All I Can Think Of Is A Rank 22 costing 1 Mil. And Then The Player Would Become The "Prince" Of The Factions Secondary Planet. Ah Well, Maybe If A Lot Of People Want This, You Can Conjure Up A Way

Interesting idea, but I think that there is enough to do in ST already.

I think it's an interesting idea that a lot of people have mentioned in the past. I'm curious though to know what people actually imagine doing with their own world. Would you manipulate prices in the exchange, make money by selling ships, dole out contracts to other players? Initiate or terminate faction conflicts somehow? What would you do with your existing ship? Would you stop flying around and just read all the flavor text in the spice hall? It almost seems like a totally different type of game to me.

Agreed - to make this fun, you'd have to build a lot of systems, balancing, and in-game actions around it ... meaning that its not suited for the life of a Star Trader, nor the game's save format. Another game indead!

Well, maybe not really running a world. But I also feel that later stages of the game (lvl 30+, enough money, dream ship, all ranks etc.) are a bit dull and missing enough challenge.

This would be an interesting premise to a new game set in-universe. I guess it would end up being like a Civ game. Pick your syndicate, house or independent world and get along with or play havoc amongst your neighbors. Just a thought

You also gave me an idea for a dialogue for a character. THANKS! rabid

I am addicted to space nation type games (Master of Orion series anyone? Except MoO 3. I find that one was a dud.)

I think I was searching for a MoO type game when I first stumbled across StarTraders. So I would be very interested in a TB created galactic civ/colonization game set in the ST universe. I might have a hard time sleeping tonight just thinking about it.
