Long time Trese Brothers fan. Last night I started playing the Nathaniel Sveet story. What a GREAT way to introduce the game to new players! I highly suggest anyone new
to Aop or any of the Trese brothers games go thru the tutorial. It really gives you a nice overview of the game and helps you to get started!

Great game but, if there is going to be a tutorial it should teach more piratey things like how to adjust combat tactics/ship upgrades for battles against merchants compared to naval vessels.
Nathaniel will never save his son doing honest work and operating within the law. He should crack halfway through when the mages wont help and vow to become a fearsome pirate lord who could force those mages to heal his kid.
I tried merchanting and piracy, the later is more fun and profitable if you ask me.
Looting ships is a reliable way to get high priced goods like gold for cheap, and taking ships from others is easier than saving up to buy a better vessel.
I went from the starter ship to a pirate sloop then a pirate manowar and all it cost was the cannon ammo and a few repairs.

@johnnymnemonic - there is an unfinished "Pirate" branch of the story that starts at about halfway through Sveet's story. Still planning on extending that. Age of Pirates is a trading / pirating game, so we took the chance to teach people the basic economical principles of the game in our first tutorial, and I hope it has paid off.
The second story will be, as you suggest, a pirate / combat captain!

How about finding a first mate to replace the one that left. Could be an interesting part of the tutorial if it exists.

Is there a way to get better standing/reputation like pardons in AoP like in ST?

mikelrysk - you should be able to pay for Pardons at Castles with highly rated governors and the like.
