I don't know how much trouble it would be but a couple of rivers in those large land masses would work. With some ports along them. Maybe they could be shallow so only ships of a certain size could fit up them? Maybe you could explore and find things like rations or hemp? Dangerous natives could shoot poison arrows and kill off the crew?
I don't know. Just a thought.

Oooh, interesting idea! Would give certain players a good reason to have a secondary, smaller craft (if the Docks are put back in).

PhordPh250 - great suggestion. Adding rivers has been on our list, as well as inland exploration that are larger in scale. Thanks for posting some extra ideas in that area!

We've even got the test maps we used during early Alpha to prove the concept.
Rivers and other stuff besides flat ocean on in the works.

Epic!! And inland exploration..... Time to find a pinnace. We have rivers (with restricted draft and specific sail / oar plans required) in the works. We also have overland expeditions coming, but they will be more like and advanced form of exploration than moving a character on a map. You'll pick an overland route, the game will calculate danger and a sequence of rolls will be completed with a result (contract, discovery, etc.)

The overland exploration sounds great. Wondered what you thought about maybe finding new locations like temple ruins or an abandoned mine for example and maybe adding in some new treasures like emeralds and silver?
