Johnny Carbo Jr. is off to a good start. Picked up a Vegas Class easy and now has 19 contracts under his belt.

Just curious, are you supposed to start with 0 credits at impossible? I figured I'd try it out at impossible but everytime I try I get 0 credits at the start. I mean, I know the difficulty is labeled "impossible" but that seems a little too... literal.

Yeah ... you start with nuddink, you have minimal fuel. You get a little cash for doing the first contract (which is your starting move anyway). Use the cash on fuel and kick of your first contract straight away - and pray it's not a kill/capture contract Note, even if you play a Spy, you don't get enough RP to buy a trade permit so you can't quickly sell your electronics and weapons. I've stashed them on the ole Indy planet by the Rychart home world until I got my trade permit

I've stashed them on the ole Indy planet by the Rychart home world until I got my trade permit That's strange, I got $0 even after doing my first contract. I was really looking forward to trying out on Impossible, but starting with literally nothing and 3 WF after turning in my first contract is a little too crazy for me. Dropping it back down to Crazy for the Master Contractor level then Another question since I haven't really played ST since the last challenge. The cargo delivery missions, I'm assuming that we need to turn in all of the cargo at the same time, yes? If so that's going to change how I planned on playing this challenge. On a trial run I ran into a "deliver 50 artifacts" contract that seemed a little daunting. First off, lots of cash necessary. Second off, my ship didn't have 50 hold space. Maybe I won't be able to finish the challenge with the Tempus Fugit after all.

No, Cargo delivery missions run until you've completed your specified quantity. This means if it takes 5 runs to do so, then it is still valid. Cargo delivery missions require you to have some starting equity, because you don't get any cash up front - you're buying the 50 artifacts out of your own pocket. Talk about trust Re impossible start, I haven't started an Impossible character for months and months, so can't be certain ... I'll give it a test soon

Off to a good start, I think. Crazy Spy captain Joey Jo-Jo Jr. Shabadoo is piloting the Planet Express (Neutiquam Erro). Got a good group of 5 contracts at the beginning, picked up an MO, lucked out on a nearby Clothing shortage and bought upgrades including Predator Tracking Array (which has come in handy already). Currently on contract #10 all the way over to Altarius. Will see how this pans out!

Cargo delivery missions require you to have some starting equity, because you don't get any cash up front johndramey, bear in mind that you won't get any Cargo delivery contracts in the early game, so you don't have to worry too much (yet). BUT...Things to keep in mind: * You get these at the palace * They may ask you to complete deliveries your reputation prohibits For the purposes of this challenge, it may be a good idea to either not make any Faction enemies, or avoid the Palace.

athios, Good call about getting the PTA. I'm at a disadvantage because I haven't yet unlocked RRIII on this phone. Ah well, I'll kill whoever I need to kill (I hope)

My first contract this challenge was a capture mission against a level 9 merchant. Bastard ran away, already starting me off with a negative score And athios, I got a cargo delivery mission for my 7th contract. Maybe I'm just unlucky?

Hmmm, actually, I might have to go create a brand new captain just to go for the RRIII award. Then I'll go back to my challenge captain ... johndramey, sucks man! What's cool is that you're continuing on even with this early penalty

slayernz It's no fun unless you roll with the punches! Generally the only time I'll ever restart a captain/knight/squad during these challenges is when they die before the cutoff. Other then that situation, keep on truckin'! Lesleyr Tough luck on that. I get a lot of bad luck in ST, but thankfully aliens are not one of them. I think I've only seen aliens a few dozen times in all of my games of ST.

Ah well, I'll kill whoever I need to kill (I hope) You could always play with Bounty hunter since they come with the ability built in that's what I'm doing and it comes in handy because you're likely to get your first bounty contract before you can upgrade to the PTA.

Yeah, I had considered doing BH or Military Officer, but opted for the Spy instead to have easier surveillance and better starting stats. Gambled by not getting Permits or Ranks until I bought the PTA upgrade, and it worked, didn't get kill contracts up to that point. On contract 11 now (after whooped by a pirate).
